The Future Games / Junior Future Games Trials took place Tuesday, July 23 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona, FL. The event featured players in the 2020-2022 classes. The players participated in a pro-style workout in front of our PBR Florida scouting staff. This event was one of our qualifiers for the 2019 Future Games. Today, we take a look at analysis of every player in attendance, including three members of our 2019 Future Games team.

Future Games Invitees

Dylan Bowen OF / 1B / TNXL Academy, FL / 2022

Uncommitted, he has continued to fill out a long, lean, projectable 6-foot-1, 175 pound frame. Has run better, but has long, athletic strides. Showed a long, loose arm action with all around athleticism in the outfield. Offensively, he a simple, compact setup. A small leg kick, he has a steep path at times, but creates leverage with present bat speed and the ball has times it jumps off of the barrel. This also showed up as the top exit velocity of the day at 93 mph. Very athletic outfielder with a high offensive ceiling.

Tyler Gerteisen OF / RHP / Lawton Chiles, FL / 2021

Physical left-handed hitting outfielder stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds. Arm has some present strength from the outfield and topped at 84 mph. Offensively, he gets out over the front foot, but the present strength plays, especially to the pull side. Created loud contact and present bat speed, has a chance for above average power potential to the pull side and showed an exit velocity of 89 mph. On the mound, there is present arm strength at 79-84 mph. A lot of physicality that should continue to play offensively. Overall, present tools with upside.

Broedy Poppell C / SS / Maclay, FL / 2021

The switch hitting catcher and middle infielder was an all around standout. In the infield, he has present twitch and athleticism, with range and works under control through the ball with quick release. Behind the plate he has a quick transfer and solid footwork which translated to 1.95-2.11 pop times. Offensively, he stood out from both sides, but was slightly more aggressive from the left side. With present bat speed and pull power. Exit velocity of 87 mph. From the right side it was simple, compact level and quick through the zone. Has a chance to be a well above average ultra utility player.

Best of the Rest

Connor Beare 3B / RHP / Lake Mary , FL / 2021

A projectable 6-foot-1, 175 pound frame. The infielder has some present carry on the throws, could quicken release, but topped at 82 mph. Offensively, he stands upright with a leg kick trigger. There is some steepness in the path, but the hands work and is short to the ball. Had an exit velocity of 83 mph. On the mound he had a simple delivery, landed in line and worked 76-79 mph with the fastball, 65-68 mph with the curveball and 68-79 mph on the changeup.

Canyon Brown C / 2B / Seabreeze, FL / 2021

Listed at 6-foot, 165 pounds, he looks much taller with longer limbs. Really stood out defensively where he has some twitchy athleticism, sound and quick footwork, and some projection with his pop times ranging from 1.92-1.97. Offensively, he stands tall and has a toe tap trigger with very little load. There is some strength, and could see more with separation. Had an exit velocity of 83 mph. Overall, the defensive tools have a chance to really play and room to grow into a projectable frame offensively.

Joseph Camps SS / RHP / Bartram Trail, FL / 2021

5-foot-8, 155 pounds. Defensively, he is aggressive through the ball in the outfield, with a short arm action topped at 79 mph. In the infield, he has some twitchiness and showed sound defensive actions. Offensively, he starts open with a short stride with the hands starting low. Hands work with some quickness through the zone, exit velocity topped at 82 mph. On the mound, worked 78-80 mph with the fastball, 65-67 mph with the curveball and 68-79 mph with the changeup.

Jim Duncan SS / 2B / West Orange, FL / 2020

5-foot-11, 175 pounds, the middle infielder was a definite standout over the course of the day. Defensively, he worked with present rhythm as the hands and feet worked in sync. He funnels the ball within his frame, had a quick release and throws had carry at 83 mph. Offensively, the switch hitter stands upright from the right side with a leg kick. The hands work freely and loose as he is aggressive to the pull side. A bit more advanced left-handed. The swing is simple, the hands are still loose, but more barrel control with present bat speed.

Ashton Eden OF / DeLand, FL / 2020

6-foot, 170 pound outfielder. Ran a 7.09 60 yard dash. In the outfield, could work through the ball more aggressively, but throws were accurate with some carry at 74 mph. Offensively, he has a wide base with a simple, compact and level swing. Created an exit velocity of 82 mph.

Diego Ferrer LHP / TNXL Academy, FL / 2020

A long arm, 5-foot-11, 155 pound frame. He worked from the stretch only and threw from a crossfire delivery and 3/4 slot. There is some deception, but crossbody led to some command issues. Worked 75-78 mph with some late action. Curveball shows some quality shape at 65-68 mph and a changeup at 68-70 mph.

Damien Rameau 3B / RHP / Carrollwood Day, FL / 2020

5-foot-11, 205 pounds, he is a stocky infielder who showed sound infield actions and topped at 70 mph across the infield. Offensively, he has a leg kick trigger, there is some rotational action that pulls him out of the zone, but is compact and short through the zone with an exit velocity of 83 mph.

Ashton Wilson SS / 3B / TNXL Academy, FL / 2022

Wilson continues to show well time and again. He has an athletic and projectable frame. Defensively, he has more athleticism and functional athleticism than his run time would suggest. Easy range and light on his feet, with solid hands. In the outfield he works fluidly through the ball and topped at 79 mph. His bat is his best tool. Advanced approach and easy bat speed. Lanky with whippiness through the zone and present leverage. A very high offensive ceiling.

Adam Parzych OF / 3B / Lincoln, FL / 2022

A lead 6-foot, 180 pounds he ran a 7.16 60 yard dash. From the outfield, it is a slightly unorthodox release, but throws had carry and topped at 80 mph. In the infield the glove works out in front and is a sound defender. Offensively, he starts with a wide base and is aggressive, uphill, to the pull side. There is above average bat speed and present strength that shows present pull-side power. Had an exit velocity of 87 mph and has a chance to hit for power.

Marcus Valle 3B / 2B / TNXL Academy, FL / 2020

A very physical 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. Defensively, he is an above average defender at third as he moves athletically, hands work and throws have carry. Offensively is where he really stands out. The left handed hitter uses his strength efficiently and shows the ability to hit and have power. Exit velocity of 91 mph, the swing has gotten more compact and has a simple swing with power potential. Valle is a potential impact uncommitted 2020.

Brady Meer 3B / 2B / TNXL Baseball Academy , FL / 2020

Meer continues to impress offensively. He is a solid defender in the infield, but the bat has a chance to impact a lineup at the next level. The switch hitter has a feel for the barrel with gap to gap power and plenty of room to grow. The left side is slightly more advanced, but overall the offensive profile is above average and should be a quality pickup soon for a program looking for a versatile, above average bat. Exit velocity at 80 mph.

Johnny Jimenez C / 3B / St. Edward, IL / 2021

A stocky 5-foot-11, 205 pounds. In the infield he broke down and received the ball. Sound hands and topped at 73 mph. Behind the plate, he had pop times ranging from 2.25-2,39. Offensively, he has a small leg kick, there is some length, but is level through the zone with an exit velocity of 85 mph.
