Georgia Premier and IMG Dominate in Wins on Wednesday

Georgia Premier Academy took on Miami Springs in the day game on Wednesday. GPA started Northwest FL State commit Javier Santos. Santos came out firing, running his fastball up to 98 mph. Offensively, Georgia Premier exploded for a 7 run first inning. Eric Guevara had two hits and RBI in the inning, while Jordan Thomas and Geremy Garcia had RBI doubles in the first.

In the 4th, Jordan Thomas got Georgia Premier on the board again with a two-RBI triple. Victor Nane would relieve Santos after two innings and was sharp for four. Georgia Premier would go on to win this one 17-7 in 6 innings. Georgia Premier goes 1-0-1 at the Preseason Classic and Miami Springs finishes 0-2.

Game 2

The nightcap on Wednesday featured the game of the week with IMG Academy taking on American Heritage. Two potential first rounders facing off on the mound with Jackson Ferris vs Brandon Barriera, and potential No. 1 pick Elijah Green at the top of the IMG lineup.

Both arms were electric up to 96 mph from the left side. Ferris got the better of Barriera going three shutout innings with six strikeouts. Barriera would go three innings allowing four runs with five strikeouts.

IMG got the scoring started in the 3rd with a RBI single from JP Ortiz followed by a RBI triple by Brady Neal. The game opened up in the 6th inning when the bases were loaded for Elijah Green. Green launched a hanging breaking ball over the left field wall for a grand slam making the score 8-0. The ball came off the bat at 109 mph. Green would add another RBI on a single later on for his third hit of the game.

Ray Bermudez added a two RBI double in the 7th for American Heritage making the final score 12-2 IMG. IMG will be back Thursday to take on Champagnat Catholic. American Heritage will play Sandalwood on Friday.
