IMG Shuts Out Champagnat; Sandalwood Upsets TFA

Day 4 of the Preseason Classic kicked off with IMG Academy taking on Champagnat Catholic. It was a one sided affair in IMG’s favor with 2023’s Jaewoo Cho and Mikhai Grant combining for seven shutout innings. Cho went the first four striking out six while running his fastball up to 91. Grant finished the last three, up to 94 mph and striking out seven.

On offense, Brady Neal got things started with a two RBI triple in the 3rd. Chase Ingram added a RBI triple of his own in the 4th. Nathan Fink opened things up in the 5th with a two-run homer to left.

IMG would go on to win this one 8-0. IMG finished 2-0 at the Preseason Classic. Champagnat will take on St. Johns Country Day on Saturday morning.

Game 2

Game 2 on Thursday featured The First Academy taking on Sandalwood. Cooper Whited shined on the mound for Sandalwood going four innings, allowing two runs with eight strikeouts. Tanner Reed would relieve Whited, throwing three shutout innings with five strikeouts.

Holden Bradshaw led the game off with a double, and would later collect two more hits and a RBI.

Down 6-0 in the 4th, Jaden Bastian got TFA on the board with a two RBI double to left. Sandalwood added to their scoring with a RBI single from Michael Miniotas for his second hit of the day.

Sandalwood would take this one 9-2 over TFA. They will be back Friday to take on American Heritage. The First Academy finishes 1-1 at the Preseason Classic.
