Jesuit Defeats Trinity Christian Behind Hakanson, Lumia

In a preseason matchup featuring two Preseason Power 25 teams, the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors took on the Jesuit Tigers. Trinity Christian Academy held onto a slim 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth until 2017 OF/LHP Sal Lumia crushed a two-run double into right-center field gap to plate two runs and give Jesuit the 2-1 lead. 2017 RHP Jeff Hakanson would take care of the rest as he would shut down the Conquerors and earn the win, finishing with 10 strikeouts on the night.

Starting for the Tigers was 2018 RHP Jack Anderson who featured a fastball that sat 88-90 mph, touching 91, while also mixing in curveball with depth at 73-74 mph. The Florida State recruit would go 2 2/3 innings finishing with five strikeouts on the night.

The big winner on the night for the Tigers was 2017 RHP Jeff Hakanson who came in for relief with his team trailing 1-0 and only allowed one hit the rest of the way along with the 10 strikeouts. The Central Florida recruit showed good poise along with sound mechanics as he threw numerous first-pitch strikes and went after the Conquerors lineup. He featured a fastball that sat 86-87 mph, touching 88 early, and then would settle in at 84-86 for the rest of the way. Hakanson also used a curveball that sat 72-74 mph that showed good depth and spin that he threw for strikes.

On the other side, 2019 RHP Dylan Simmons started for the Conquerors and would go three innings with six strikeouts and allow only one hit. The Florida State recruit displayed a fastball that sat 87-90 mph, touching 91, along with a 73-76 mph curveball that induced several swing and misses during his second and third innings of work. He would also go 1-for-2 at the plate and score the Conquerors lone run on the night.

The Jesuit Tigers are set to take on the Middleton Tigers next Thursday to open their season while the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors will take on the Ridgeview Panthers Monday to kick things off.
