High School baseball in Florida has begun. Lake Mary hosted Orangewood Christian in their season opener and many scouts were in attendance to see Lake Mary's SS Brendan Rodgers (2015), the No. 1 ranked high school prospect in the country, against Orangewood Christians' C Jackson Lueck (2015), ranked No. 39 in Florida. Both players are Florida State commits and both are getting serious draft interest this year, with Rodgers getting consideration for the top overall pick.

Lake Mary then put four on the board in the bottom of the first inning as RHP Sam Lanier (2015), East Carolina commit, walked two and gave up back to back RBI singles to John Radetsky and Brett Brubaker. Lake Mary scored one in the fourth inning and Orangewood answered with two in the fifth on a two RBI double by Jeremiah Davis. Lake Mary responded with two more in the fifth. A sacrifice fly by Joseph Pesce and a solo blast by Rodgers.Orangewood got one more in the seventh on an RBI fielders choice by Jake Lefever but it wasn't enough.
