Miami Christian and American Heritage with Big Wins on Day 5

Day 5 at the Preseason Classic kicked off with American Heritage taking on Sandalwood. Sandalwood threw their ace in lefty Dakota Stone. American Heritage jumped on Stone early as Ray Bermudez drove a RBI double followed by a Manuel Henriquez RBI single. Heritage added more in the 3rd after a couple walks and a Frank Pena RBI single.

In the 4th, Florida commit Erik Blair drove in a RBI single and FSU commit Spencer Butt launched a three RBI double. Ray Bermudez added another RBI double in the 5th for his fourth hit of the game.

Evan Dobias got the start for American Heritage going three shutout innings with five RBI. Both teams finish 1-1 at the 2022 Preseason Classic.

Game 2

The nightcap on Friday featured St. Johns Country Day taking on Miami Christian. Virginia commit Bradley Hodges started for St. Johns and was sharp. Up to 92 from the left side. He would go three shutout innings while striking out seven. On the other side, Miami commit Christopher Diaz started for Miami Christian. The junior would go 2.2 shutout innings with six strikeouts.

St. Johns got on the board first in the 3rd after several walks brought in runs. Cooper Hunt would single in a run in the 4th followed by a Bradley Hodges RBI triple.

Miami Christian got on the board in the 4th after a run scoring error and RBI double from Jameson Caro. In the 6th, Cooper Hunt drove in another RBI single and Jordan Taylor would drive him in with a single.

Miami Christian came storming back in the 6th with a Freddy Oquendo RBI double and RBI singles from Jeter Polledo and Jameson Caro. Roy Quevedo would give Miami Christian the lead with a RBI double.

Up 10-6 in the 7th, Jameson Caro came on to close. He would strike out the side with his fastball up to 93 mph as Miami Christian would take this one 10-6. They will be back Saturday to take on TNXL Academy. St. Johns will play Champagnat on Saturday as well.
