The Orlando Scorpions held their 2021 Summer Tryout this past weekend, January 8 - January 10th in Viera, FL. The event featured players trying out for the Orlando Scorpions travel organization from the 2022-2025 classes. Day one featured bullpens. Day two featured defensive and offensive evaluations. Day three featured live games. The PBR Florida Scouting Staff was on hand to cover the event. Today, we will share with you the standouts from the Scorpions Tryout.

2022 Standouts

2022 Connor Fosnow, 3B, Lake Brantley

Fosnow has a stocky frame with present strength in his lower half. Kept hands inside the baseball making hard contact out front with a fluid level bat path and natural lift. Showcased projectable power to the pull side gap. Fosnow is currently uncommitted.

2022 Grant Gallagher, SS, Lawton Chiles

Present strength in lower half. In the box Gallagher showed strong/quiet hands working smoothly through the zone. Simple approach showcasing present power to the pull side gap. Ability to launch baseball effectively. Gallagher is currently uncommitted.

2022 Michael Gulliams, RHP/SS, The Villages Charter

Competitive strike throwing right handed pitcher. Easy repeatable mechanics on the bump, Fastball was sitting 84-85 mph with arm side run. Curveball was thrown for strikes with an 11/5 shape at 74 mph. Flashed a changeup at 80 mph.

2022 Joshua Hogue, SS, Palm Beach Gardens (HS)

Twitchy barrel from the left side, barrel tilt load creating natural lift to pull side gap. Two solid rounds of BP.

2022 Justin Jackson, LHP, Seacrest

6-foot-2 lean frame, Jackson made hitters very uncomfortable in the box on Sunday coming from a true 3/4 arm slot. Fastball was up to 82 mph with arm side sinking action mixed well with a sharp wipeout slider at 72 mph. Jackson is currently uncommitted, but I don’t see that lasting much longer.

2022 Nolan Mason, OF/RHP, Trinity Catholic

Large stocky frame. Mason showed twitchy actions on contact with present power to the pull side gap with above average bat speed and athletic finish on swing. Showcased above average arm strength in his infield workout as well. Mason is currently uncommitted.

2022 Landon Moran, 1B, Lake Brantley

The Florida commit was a 2020 PBR Junior State Games participant on the East Team. Moran showed mature actions all around in the box, natural ability to launch baseball in the pull side gap with present power and above average bat speed followed with an athletic finish.

2022 Dylan Post, C, Hagerty

Solid athletic frame and looks the part. In the box Post utilizes his athletic lower half and twitchy upper body creating above average bat speed and power to the pull side gap. Produced a lot of hard contact off barrel with natural lift  in his two rounds of BP. Post is currently uncommitted.

2022 Jeremy Weaver, RHP, Winter Haven

Weaver produces a lot of power stuff around the zone with present arm strength. Fastball was up to 88 mph and the slider had sharp action when he stayed on top of it and was under control. A lot of swing and miss stuff. Weaver is currently uncommitted.

2023 Standouts

2023 Brady Appel, RHP/3B, Edgewater

Appel showed simple, easy, mature mechanics with a fluid arm action. Does a good job of staying on top of his fastball, curveball has bite at times, with a feel for changeup. Fastball was up to 84 mph.

2023 Lucas Glendinning, RHP/3B, Viera

Big bodied right handed pitcher. Glendinning takes advantage of his strong lower half driving towards the target. Reached a consistent balance point that allowed repeatable actions on all of his pitches. Fastball topped out at 85 mph with heavy action.

2023 Jake Kulikowski, 1B, Jesuit

Keep an eye on the Miami commit, Kulikowski is already showcasing present power to the pull side gap. Mature actions in the box, clean short/compact swing through zone with natural lift.

2024/2025 Standouts

2025 Max Murray, RHP/1B

Murray has a large frame for his age, already showing mature actions on the mound. Had present feel for his body working over the rubber, mixed his pitches well with fastball up to 82 mph.
