The PBR MN Fall Review event took place on Sunday, October 21, 2018. The event was held at the West St. Paul Athletic Center in West St. Paul, MN.

The event was exclusive to 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022 grads who participated in the last Prep Baseball Report Minnesota event of the fall. 

Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance. Thank you to the players, parents, my staff; along with the staff at the West St. Paul Athletic Center for such a great event.

infieldER EVALUATIONS (alpha)

Hunter Ault, RHP/SS, Mounds View, 2019
5-foot-10, 150-pound right handed hitting two-way player.  7.32 runner.  Squared athletic stance.  Hand and body load back with small toe tap.  Aggressive swing with a short finish.  Middle approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Flat swing plane with inconsistent barrel.  83 mph exit velocity.  IF- Stays low and works around baseball to field.  Good hands and makes routine play.  83 mph arm strength with above average accuracy and carry.  On Mound- Balanced delivery with good tempo.  Throws across body with short arm action from a ¾ arm slot.  Lively fastball and thrown with slight downhill action at 79-81 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with decent shape and lands for strikes at 65-66 mph.  Change-up is flat with occasional cut action at 67-68 mph. 

Joe Becker, RHP/3B, New Prague, 2020
5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.38 runner.  Balanced, slightly open set up.  Rhythm in leg lift and hand load back.  Aggressive swings and lower half gets through swing.  Swing plane works down to contact.  Mid/pull approach with mainly line drive contact.  Overall consistent barrel and swing.  83 mph exit velocity.  IN- Good first step and moves well to field.  Fields ball out in front.  Decent glove and makes routine play.  76 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On Mound- Good tempo in delivery.  Balanced and good direction down mound.  Throws from ¾ arm slot and longer arm action.  Fastball has varying fastball action at 77-78 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with average spin and decent shape thrown at 65-67 mph.  Change-up has fade action at 71-73 mph. 

Reid Benson, SS/RHP, St. Francis, 2019
5-foot-8, 145-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.19 runner.  Slightly open square stance.  Hands load back into stride to start.  Pull approach with line drive contact.  Average swing with decent barrel.  Works around contact with average swing plane.  70 mph exit velocity.  IF- Attacks ball and moves ok laterally.  Fields ball deep with ok hands.  Accurate throws with average carry and 73 mph arm strength.  On Mound- Rocker step into a delivery with slight tuck in balance point.  Lands and throws slightly across body from a ¾ arm slot.  Tends to fall off glove side.  Fastball is straight thrown at 70-72 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with ok spin and shape thrown at 60-62 mph.  Change-up is average with some fade action at 62-65 mph.

Andrew Bevens, RHP/3B, River Falls (WI), 2019
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed throwing two-way player.  6.88 runner.  Tall stance with high hand set.  Toe tap stride and hands load down.  Arm bar and comes around contact.  Flat swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball to fly ball contact.  Inconsistent with some strength in barrel.  88 mph exit velocity.  OF- Attacks ball.  Feet move athletically.  Ok glove and fields ball clean.   Decent arm action.  83 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  IF- Heavy feet and moves better laterally.  Stiff glove but makes routine play.  79 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry.  On Mound- Good size with longer lower half.  Good balance and quick tempo delivery.  Shorter stride and stays tall through release.  Fastball sits 78-80 mph with varying action.  Curveball is 11/5 break with ok shape and spin, tends to spike at 69-71 mph.  Change-up is 70-72 mph and inconsistent with varying action. 

RJ Brothen, 1B/LHP, North St. Paul, 2019
5-foot-11, 173-pound left-handed hitting two-way player.  8.19 runner.  Squared balanced stance.  Knee to knee and rhythm in hand load back.  Can get more from lower half.  Flashes some pop.  Middle of field approach with mainly line drive contact.  Decent swing plane and stiff finish at times.  79 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet can be heavy to field.  Glove plays high but fields ball consistently.  70 mph arm strength with accurate throws and ok carry.  On Mound- Balance throw delivery.  Swings open and works with good direction.  Throws from ¾ arm slot.  Fastball sits 72-73 mph with varying action.  Curveball has 1/7 break with ok spin thrown at 61-63 mph.  Knuckle ball is 62-64 mph with sinking action. 

Jeremy Brown, 1B, North St. Paul, 2020
6-foot-4, 210-pound left-handed hitting first baseman.  8.08 runner.  Tall open stance with high hand set.  Leg lift and hands load down.  Strides to square.  Hands are short and down to contact with flat swing plane.  Gap to gap approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Barrel flashes pop at times.  80 mph exit velocity.  IF- Average hands and feet.  Stays high to field.  Short arm action.  71 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.

Connor Campbell, 2B, Rochester Mayo, 2020
5-foot-7, 160-pound right-handed hitting second baseman.  7.70 runner.  Balanced open stance.  Hand load back and strides to square.  Compact swing and short to contact. Ok swing plane.  Middle approach and line drive contact.  Consistent barrel contact.  Added strength will help drive ball.  71 mph exit velocity.  IF- OK actions.  Feet can get slow to field.  Decent hands and makes routine play.  Loose arm with 71 mph arm strength and average carry and accuracy.

Christanto D’Agostino, 3B/RHP, Moorhead, 2020
5-foot-7, 210-pound left-handed hitting two-way player.  7.59 runner.  Wide open stance.  Rhythm in load and strides to square.  Hands work down to contact and flat swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Consistent contact with pop in barrel.  90 mph exit velocity.  IF- Decent actions.  Feet move ok and around baseball to field.  Ok glove and fields ball out in front.  Makes routine play, looks smooth.  81 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On Mound- Balanced over the top delivery.  Repeatable mechanics and good direction down mound.  Throws from ¾ arm slot and arm works.  Fastball sit 79-80 mph with some life.  Curveball has 11/5 sweeping break with ok spin and shape at 71-73 mph.  Change-up is 72-74 mph some fade action. 

Joshua Daniel, SS, Minnetonka, 2021
5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitting short stop.  8.09 runner.  Balanced squared stance.  Leg lift start and rhythm in hand load.  Good swing plane.    Aggressive swings and show ability to drive baseball.  Middle of field approach with line drive contact.  Consistent barrel contact with pop.  73 mph exit velocity.  IF- Decent actions.  Slow first step.  Solid hands and makes routine play.  Loose arm action.  75 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy. 

Carter Daun, RHP/SS, Rogers, 2021
6-foot-3, 170-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.51 runner.  Balanced squared stance.  Toe tap to stride, and hands load behind back shoulder.  Slight arm bar.  Flat bat path and comes around contact.  Pull approach with ground ball to fly ball contact.  Inconsistent barrel contact.  64 mph exit velocity.  IF- Heavy feet and stops and start to field.  Ok glove and plays high.  Decent arm action with 72 mph arm strength and below average carry and average accuracy.  On Mound- Tall long frame.  Balanced with turn and go delivery.  Lands and throws slightly across body with shorter stride.  Throws from ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is 73-76 mph with arm side run.  Curveball is 10-4 sweeping break with loose spin thrown at 65-67 mph.  Change-up is inconsistent with varying action at 67-69 mph.

Jaxon Fenn, 2B, Spring Lake Park, 2019
5-foot-7, 145-pound right-handed hitting second baseman.  7.19 runner.  Slightly crouched squared stance.  Leg lift start with hand load back.  Middle approach with ground ball to fly ball contact.  Swing works down to contact with flat swing plane and short finish.  71 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet move ok laterally.  OK hands and makes routine play.  Throws are accurate with below average carry at 68 mph arm strength.  Overall added strength with development on both sides of the ball.

Riley Frisk, RHP/1B, Woodbury, 2019
6-foot-3, 170-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  6.97 runner.  Athletic open balanced stance.  Longer frame.  Knee to knee and hand load back.  Arm bar and upper half spins.  Flat swing plane and flashes decent bat speed.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average barrel contact.  87 mph exit velocity.  IF- Decent athlete.  Feet move ok and better laterally.  Glove can be stiff to field.  Some squat to field.  Long arm action with 82 mph arm strength and average carry and accuracy.  On Mound- Long levers and projectable frame.  Balanced delivery with slight pause at top.  Good direction down mound and extension out front.  Fastball is 79-81 mph and straight.  Curveball has 11/5 break with solid shape and tight spin thrown at 68-70 mph.  Change-up is flat and flashes average fade action at 73-74 mph. 

Peyton Grant, 2B, Marshall, 2020
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder.  7.31 runner.  Slightly open balanced stance.  Compresses with a shoulder load and strides to square.  Some stiffness in swing with a short finish.  Works around contact.  Pull approach with mainly ground ball and line drive contact.  Inconsistent barrel contact.  77 mph exit velocity.  IF- OK feet and can be choppy at times.  Tends to field baseball deep.  Throws from a lower arm slot.  75 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry. 

Tommy Gupton. RHP/2B, LeSueuer-Henderson, 2020
5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitting two-way player. 7.59 runner.  Tall upright open stance.  Starts with a high hand and back elbow setup.  Shoulder load and stride to start.  Mid/pull approach with mainly line drive contact.  Slight arm bar and flat swing plane.  Swing at times tends to get stiff.  76 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet move ok laterally.  Can sit back on baseball.  Hands can be hard at times but makes routine play.  Throws from a lower arm slot at 72 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy.  On Mound- Balanced start and through delivery.  Good direction down mound with quicker tempo.  Throws from a lower ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is at 78-79 mph and thrown for strikes with run and sink.  Curveball has 11/5 break with tight spin and decent shape at 70-71 mph.  Change-up is firm with sinking action at 72-75 mph.  Overall added strength will help with development.

Blake Kaufhold, RHP/3B, Chanhassen, 2020
5-foot-10, 133-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.63 runner.  Upright open stance.  Rhythm in load and strides to square.  Slight arm bar that works around contact.  Pull approach with line drive contact.  Decent swing plane with consistent contact.  72 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet can be choppy and slow to field.  Glove works high to low.  Short arm action with 73 mph arm strength and average accuracy and carry.  On Mound- Decent athlete.  Balanced and repeatable delivery.  Good direction down mound.  Short arm action and ok extension.  Fastball is 72-74 mph with slight downhill action.  Curveball works 60-61 mph with 11/5 break, average shape and good spin.  Change-up is thrown with ok arm apeed at 66-67 mph and average action.

James LeGarde, SS Esko, 2020
5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitting short stop.  7.27 runner.  Athletic slightly open stance.  Leg lift trigger and rhythm in hand load.  Ok hands and swing plane.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Average barrel contact.  Tends to leave back side early.  83 mph exit velocity.  C- Feet can lose direction on throws.  Good exchange with average release.  1.93-2.11 pop times.  Throws from a lower arm slot.  72 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  IF- Feet move athletically to ball.  Ok hands and makes routine play.  75 mph arm strength with good accuracy and carry.

Cade Marsolek, RHP/SS, Burnsville, 2019
6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.06 runner.  Good athlete.  Open athletic stance.  Knee to knee and slight shoulder load.  Strides to square.  OK bat path.  Mid/pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Decent barrel contact with flashes of pop.  84 mph exit velocity.  OF- Moves athletically to ball.  Ok glove.  Average all around.  Arm is loose.  82 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy.  On mound- Good size.  Balanced delivery with slight pause.  Gets down mound with extension out front.  Throws from ¾ arm slot with good arm action.  Fastball sat 83-85 mph with down action.  Curveball has 11/5 break with average spin and shape thrown at 71-72 mph.  Change-up is 74-76 and straight.  Follow in 2019 class into Spring if not committed. 

Jacob Marx, 3B/RHP, Champlin Park, 2020
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  6.87 runner.  Balanced open stance with high hand set.  Compress load with leg lift and hands back.  Dives into plate.  Flat swing plane.  Opposite field approach with groundball to fly ball contact.  Inconsistent barrel.  79 mph exit velocity.  IF- Ok feet and works around baseball to field.  Ok glove and makes routine play.  Longer arm action. 76 mph arm strength with average accuracy and decent carry.  On Mound- Balance over the top delivery.  Shorter stride down mound.  Stiffer arm action from ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is 71-73 mph with varying action.  Curveball has loose spin with ok shape at 63-65 mph.  Change-up is firm and flat thrown at 68-69 mph.

Jordan Mernaugh, 1B, Marshall, 2020
5-foot-11, 195-pound right-handed hitting first baseman.  8.02 runner.  Squared balanced stance.  Leg lift and body load back.  Some rhythm.  Flat swing plane with short finish.  Pull approach with line drive contact.  Average barrel contact.  83 mph exit velocity.  IF- Ok feet.  Average glove and fields ball out in front.  Makes routine play.  70 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry. 

Alex Mihalakis, SS/RHP, Minnetonka, 2019
5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.45 runner.  Upright open stance.  Leg lift and strides to square with hand load back.  Swing plane works down to contact.  Middle of field approach with line drive contact.  Inconsistent barrel and good when on time.  81 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet work around baseball to field.  Ok hands and makes routine play.  Quick transfer to glove.  71 mph arm strength with good accuracy and below average carry.  On Mound- Balanced start into tuck and go delivery.  Lands across body and throws from ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is 79-80 mph with some run.  Curveball has 11/5 break with loose spin and ok shape thrown at 66-67 mph.  Change-up has fade action at 73-75 mph. 

Gavin Milene, SS, Rochester Century, 2021
5-foot-10, 130-pound right-handed hitting short stop. 7.53 runner.  Squared shoulder width stance with preloaded high hand set.  Knee to knee trigger.  Swing plane works down to contact.  Good lower half that gets through swing well.  Mid/pull approach with mainly ground ball and line drive contact.  Consistent barrel.  77 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet move ok to ball with good first step.  Likes to work around the baseball and tends to field ball deep.  Good arm action with 77 mph arm strength and average carry and accuracy. 

Miles Nissly, 3B, St. Thomas Academy, 2020
5-foot-9, 160-pound right-handed hitting third baseman.  7.44 runner.  Narrow upright stance with high hand set.  Small compress load and stride with little hand load.  Raw swing with ability to show more.  Flat swing plane with short finish.  Middle of field approach with mainly line drive contact.  Average barrel contact.  66 mph exit velocity.  IF- Slow feet to field.  Average glove and makes routine play.  71 mph arm strength with average accuracy and below average carry. 

Ben North, SS/RHP, East Ridge, 2021
6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.07 runner.  Shoulder width squared stance.  Strides and hand load back to start.  Short and quick aggressive swing.  Decent bat speed and flashes pop in barrel.  Mid/oppo approach with line drive contact.  86 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet can be choppy and moves better laterally.  OK glove and works high.  83 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy.  On Mound- Athletic presence.  Balanced delivery and good direction down mound.  Throws from ¾ arm slot with good arm action.  Fastball has life thrown at 79-82 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with inconsistent shape and ok spin at 65-67 mph.  Change-up is 69-71 mph with push release. 

Dylan Notsch, SS/RHP, Sartell-St. Stephen, 2019
6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.50 runner.  Good size and build.  Balanced squared stance.  Leg lift with rhythm load.  Comfortable at plate and easy swing.  Middle of field approach with mainly line drive contact.  Consistent barrel contact.  83 mph exit velocity.  IF- Works around ball to field.  Ok glove and stays tall.  Corner infielder at next level.  76 mph arm strength with average carry and good accuracy.  On Mound- Big mound presence.  Balanced through delivery.  Shorter stride and lands slightly across body.  Throws from ¾ arm slot with short arm action.  Fastball sits 75-77 mph with late cut action.  Curveball is thrown stiff with 11/5 break and average shape and spin at 66-68 mph.  Change-up is 69-72 mph with varying action.

Carter Olek, 3B/RHP, Orono, 2021
5-foot-8, 169-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.53 runner.  Squared upright stance.  Leg lift and hand load to start.  Inconsistent timing and aggressive swing.  Pull approach with mainly ground ball contact.  Inconsistent barrel and hands roll through contact.  76 mph exit velocity.  IF- OK glove with choppy footwork.  Feet can be heavy to ball.  70 mph arm strength with below average carry and average accuracy.  On Mound- Balanced delivery.  Shorter stride and runs down mound to finish.  Fastball is straight with slight down hill action thrown at 73-75 mph.  Curveball has bigger 11/5 break with loose spin and loopy shape at 60-61 mph.  Change-up lacks feel at 64-66 mph with straight action.

Luke Pabst, SS, Grand Forks Central (ND), 2021
5-foot-6, 135-pound right-handed hitting short stop.  7.23 runner.  Squared balanced start.  Body load back with minimal hand load.  Lower half gets through swing.  Ok hands with a short finish.  Flat swing plane. Mid/pull approach with groundball contact.  Inconsistent barrel at times.  81 mph exit velocity.  IF- Feet work around baseball and glove comes out late to field.  Quick transfer to release.  72 mph arm strength with average carry and good accuracy.

Ben Palmer, SS Totino-Grace, 2019
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed hitting short stop.  6.78 runner.  Long and athletic with projectable frame.  Tall upright open stance.  Hands load back and strides to square.  Shows ability to hit with pop.  Mid/pull approach with line drive contact.  Aggressive swing with consistent barrel contact.  80 mph exit velocity.  IF- Solid actions with smooth glove.  Works around ball and stays below baseball to field. Good feet and moves well laterally.  Easy arm action with above average carry and accuracy with 77 mph arm strength.  Follow in 2019 class.

Blake Ramberg, SS, Elk River, 2021
5-foot-7, 150-pound right-handed hitting short stop.  7.27 runner.  Open and shoulder width stance with high hand set.  Body load back and strides to square.  Lower half gets through swing.  Swing plane works down to contact and is flat.  Pull approach with mainly groundball contact.   Inconsistent barrel with short finish.  71 mph exit velocity.  OF- Good glove and fields ball clean.  OK feet and into release.  Longer arm action.  74 mph arm strength with below average carry and ok accuracy.  IF- Raw actions.  Decent feet laterally.  Ok hands and makes routine play.  Could use more legs into throws.  68 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  Overall added strength will help with development.

Isaiah Relf, 1B/RHP, Coon Rapids, 2019
6-foot-1, 230-pound left-handed hitting two-way player.  7.51 runner.  Narrow open stance.  Strides to square and hand load back.  Hands work down to contact and short finish.  Mid/pull approach with ground ball to fly ball contact.  Average barrel contact.  84 mph exit velocity.  IF- Active feet and good first step.  Plays aggressive.  Ok glove and makes the routine play.  Decent arm action.  78 mph arm strength with accurate throws and average carry.  On Mound- Slow tempo delivery.  Turn in and go, and lands across body.  Throws from ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is straight and has some life, sits 77-78 mph.  Curveball has 1/7 break with ok spin and small shape thrown at 68-70 mph.  Change-up is firm with down action at 74-76 mph. 

Luke Rooney, RHP/SS, Regis (WI), 2020
6-foot-1, 170-pound switch-hitting two-way player.  7.03 runner.  RHH- Tall open stance.  Leg lift and rhythm hand load.  Aggressive swing.  Flat bat path and can have stiff short finish.  Pull approach with mainly line drive and fly ball contact.  Inconsistent barrel.  LHH- Tall open stance.  Load is similar as right side.  Stride dives into plate.  Mid/pull approach with line drive contact.  Can pull off contact at times.  85 mph exit velocity.  IF- Attacks ball and feet are slow to field.  Hands can be stiff, and glove comes out late to field.  79 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.  On Mound- Balanced start.  Quick tempo delivery and raw mechanically overall.  At times lands and throws across body.  Fastball has some life thrown at 79-81 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 break with solid shape and spin at 67-69 mph.  Change-up has good fade action at 68-69 mph. 

Gregory Ryun, RHP/SS, Chanhassen, 2020
6-foot, 155-pound, right handed hitting two-way player.  7.40 runner.  Upright open stance.  Toe tap to start with slight hand load.  OK hands and bat path.  Tends to lose balance in swing.  Middle of field approach with ground ball and line drive contact.  Inconsistent barrel contact.  76 mph exit velocity.  IF- Decent actions.  Moves well laterally and works around ball to field.  Ok hands and fields ball out in front.  Slinger arm action.  78 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy.  On Mound- Balanced delivery with good direction down mound.  Shorter stride and stays tall through release.  Throws form ¾ arm slot with quicker arm.  Fastball is 79-81 mph and straight.  Curveball has 11/5 sharp break with small shape and good spin thrown at 66-68 mph and lands for strikes.  Change-up is thrown with good feel and cut action at 73-74 mph. 

Quinn Schmidt, OF/3B, Edina, 2019
6-foot-3, 200-pound right-handed hitting outfielder.  7.27 runner.  Big body presence.  Wider square stance.  Body load back.  Slight arm bar and length to contact.  Middle of field approach with mainly line drive contact.  Consistent contact with flashes of pop in barrel.  83 mph exit velocity.  OF- Attacks ball and stays low to field.  Average glove.  71 mph arm strength with good accuracy and fading carry.  IF- Stays low to field.  Feet work around ball to field.  Ok glove and makes routine play.  Some push in arm action.  68 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry.

Cooper Smith, RHP/1B, Holy Angels, 2020
6-foot, 190-pound right-handed hitting two-way player.  7.47 runner.  Wide squared stance with high hand set.  Stride and hand load back.  Arm bar and some length to contact at times.  Easy repeatable swing.  Gap to gap approach with line drive and fly ball contact.  Consistent barrel contact and flashes pull pop.  81 mph exit velocity.  IF- Ok feet and can be heavy at times.  Fields ball out in front.  Makes routine play.  76 mph arm strength with accurate throws and average carry.  On Mound- Balanced and good tempo delivery.  Good direction down mound.  Throws from high ¾ arm slot.  Fastball is straight thrown at 76-79 mph topping out at 81 mph.  Curveball has 11/5 early break with decent spin and shape at 64-66 mph.  Change-up sits 70-71 mph with some fade action. 

John Solfest, SS/RHP, Mounds View, 2019
