Preseason All-State Showcase: Previewing the Catchers

The Preseason All-State Showcase is set for February 15 and 16 at the B2B Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA. The event serves as the end of the indoor events schedule and an opportunity for the top prospects in the state to showcase their skills one last time prior to the start of high school baseball practices in early March. As we draw closer to the event we will preview some of the top prospects on the roster by position.

This year's Preseason All-State Showcase has been expanded to a two-day event to better serve the number of talented prospects looking to participate. Day Two will showcase 32 catchers and 49 pitchers. The group of catchers that will be assembled is deep in talent.

Willie BurgerThe PA Class of 2015 has already seen 23 of the top 27 ranked prospects make Division I commitments. Among the top ranked and uncommitted prospects in the class, C/3B Willie Burger (Lancaster Catholic) will highlight the group of catchers in attendance, but will have plenty of company.

Joining Burger (No. 7 in the PA Class of 2015) will be Kurt Latocha (No. 8 in the WV Class of 2015), Travis Renner (No. 11 in the WV Class of 2014), Nick Dunn (No. 48 in the PA Class of 2015) and Jonny Smith (No. 63 in the PA Class of 2015). The talented field of backstops is a who's who list of prospects ranked in West Virginia and Pennsylvania and should provide for an interesting battle for positions in the respective state rankings.
