Scouting Report

01/21/17- The 6-foot-2, 170-pound right handed pitcher has a pitcher's body, thin with projection remaining. High over-the-top arm slot with a long circle in the back and high release point. Arm is plenty quick with a fastball ranging from 85-87 mph. Gives the hitters a different look most are not used to seeing. Can be very effective for a 1-2 inning stint out of the pen at the next level. Fastball has good downhill plane and curveball can be a swing and miss pitch when thrown hard for a true 12-6 break. Overall, he throws strikes with quality angles on all three pitches. There is present arm speed and can continue to fill out and get stronger.

9/17/16- The high waisted and long limbed 6-foot-2, 165 pound RHP has a very projectable pitcher's’ frame. He has a controlled motion and lands in line with a clean footstrike down the mound. He has a long arm action with a pronated type wrist action on the backside of his arm swing that at times leads to him not getting fully extended with his fingers on top of the ball. His fastball ranged from 83-85 mph touching 88 mph and showed some good late arm side action. His has a strong front side and overall very clean mechanics. He throws the changeup with the same armspeed as the fastball with late fading action at 82-86 mph topping at 88 mph. The slider showed good shape at 69 mph with the changeup at 74 mph. He is very projectable and there is life in the arm. Once he can consistently get extended the velocity should jump and he should be able to hold it.

12/12/15 - Andrew has a tall lean athletic projectable body at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, with a strong athletic lower half. He showed a loose live arm at a high ¾ slot. His fastball was 86-89 mph with late life and downhill tilt. The curveball was 73-76 mph with a short tight slurve break. It occasionally would break two planes, and almost looks more like a slider. It was tighter with a bit more depth than I had seen in the past. The change up is still a work in progress. It has the same life as his fastball at 77-78 mph. He would occasionally just hang on to it a bit too long. Overall Andrew’s velocity has made a little jump and will continue to do so as he physically matures. The breaking ball has improved tremendously. If he puts together a consistent Spring, he won’t last long on the market. He is a definite Division one prospect.

8/5/15 - At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, he is a tall loose lean athletic projectable guy with a loose live arm at a high ¾ slot. He’s got a bit of a slinger type arm action, meaning he opens a bit early in back and works under the ball, but he is consistent out front. He’s a little deep in back and lands slightly across his body. Has good arm speed with projection. The fast ball was 84-88 mph with some late tail action and downhill tilt when he gets out front. The curve ball was 71-73 mph with ¾ rotation. Occasionally gets around it, but should tighten up with added velocity. The change up was 76-77 mph with good arm speed and same fast ball action. Threw a lot of strikes with all three pitches. Very young, very athletic and a very projectable arm. He should start to attract attention from some colleges very soon.
