Preseason Preview: Lake Brantley HS

By Rob Sidwell
Florida Scouting Director

The Florida high school season kicks off on February 9, the first day for regular season games. Most teams began practicing on January 19, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team.

OUTLOOK

Lake Brantley High School is traditionally a talent rich program that has produced the likes of Jason Varitek, Rickie weeks, Brad Rigby, Jemile Weeks, Felipe Lopez, Johnny Venters and many more who have gone on and been very good players at the next level. This year will be no exception as they have seven current players already committed to College programs, and those that aren’t committed, will be in the near future. The strength of Coach Entrekins’ 2015 squad will be its’ pitching. They have eight returning pitchers from last years’ squad. The bats will be young but talented, lead by left handed power hitting Paxton Rigby, smooth fielding shortstop Harrison Ray, and power hitting catcher, Louis Oliver. The Patriots will have their hands full this year as they take on a powerful SAC, lead by Lake Mary, Oviedo, Winter Springs, and Hagerty High Schools.
