Doug Freeman
Florida Scouting Director

The South Florida Trials took place Saturday January 12 at Florida International University. Players took part in a pro-style workout, followed by bullpens. Players were evaluated by PBR staff and look to earn an invitation to the premier preseason event, the Preseason All State. Today we take a look at a few Quick Hits and those who are invited to the Preseason All State.

Congratulations to those who have been invited to the Preseason All State January 26-27 at IMG Academy.

Invites:

Jonathan Ramallo, OF/RHP, Miami Sunset (2020)- Physical frame, he had the best exit velocity of 89 mph. Present bat speed and strength. On the mound he topped out at 88 mph and overall an intriguing two-way talent.

Clayton Hodges, OF/SS, Episcopal School of Jacksonville (2021)- Lean frame, showed a loose arm and throws were accurate with carry, topping at 83 mph from the outfield. Offensively, he looked to pull, there is present bat speed and whip in the barrel through the zone.

Austin Alexander, SS, Miami Sunset (2020)- The athletic middle infielder showed, fluid, easy action at short. Offensively, there is some present bat speed and showed a feel for the barrell with line drives from gap to gap in BP.

Connor Wilt, 3B, Cardinal Newman (2021)- The stocky third  baseman worked under control defensively. Offensively, the left handed hitter has a loose, swing with bat speed and power potential.

Christopher McKenna, C, Stoneman Douglas (2021)- The projectable catcher has added significant muscle to the frame. Above average defender. Offensively, there is a feel to hit with offensive upside.
