Top Prospect Games Stetson: 2020 Player Breakdown

On August 22nd PBR Florida held the Top Prospect Games at Stetson University. This Top Prospect Games was a part of our fall Top Prospect Series to bring events closer to players and parents to help maximize exposure and limit time and travel. A talented group took part in a pro-style workout an simulated game at Stetson. Over the next week we will break down each of the 2019s-2022s in attendance. Today we take a look at the 2020s who took part in the Top Prospect Games

Nathanial Sullivan OF / 3B / Orangewood Christian, FL / 2020

The physical 6-foot-3, 200 pound outfielder has present athleticism and strength.  Defensively, he works to and through the ball well. Has a quick and clean release and throws are accurate, with carry. In the infield, he continues to show athletic actions, there is some stiffness, but has solid defensive actions. Offensively, he stands tall and has a somewhat short stride. He has present barrel awareness and strength and could access more strength with more use of the lower half. The swing is compact, had a single, double and stolen base in the game play. Overall he has a strong athletic frame and a bat to follow.  

 

William Quinones 1B / 3B / University, FL / 2020

William Quinones University 2020 1B R/R 6-0 190Uncommitted, standing at 6-foot, 190 pounds. Defensively, his feet work well around the bag and has all around sound defensive actions. Offensively, he hits with a wide, strong base. He tends to drift some which can create some length, but has present strength and generated an exit velocity of 80 mph. 

 

Elijah Chun OF / LHP / Clay, FL / 2020

A stock 5-foot-8, 175 pounds, Chun has a strong lower half. Defensively, he moves well, anticipates and has quality routes. Comes through the ball aggressively and has accurate throws with some carry. Offensively, he has an above average approach. Gap to gap hitter, he is balanced and used the strong lower half well. Had a really quality at-bat where he battled doff several tough pitches before getting a base hit. Aggressive, high motor player. On the mound, he worked from the stretch only. The delivery is simple and he repeats it well. Fastball worked 77-79 mph, while the curveball was 68-69 and changeup was 72 mph.  

 

Vance Wimberly SS / 3B / Orangewood Christian, FL / 2020

The athletic, 5-foot-11, 175 pound middle infielder showed twtichy, athletic actions. Defensively, he has a quick first step and is a rangy athlete. There is functional athleticism defensively and the hands work well. Offensively, he works slightly open to closed. He is fairly top half rotational which can cut him off at times. The path is level and there is bat speed and as he works to extension there is gap to gap power. Overall, there is present athleticism and tools to follow.  

 

Robert Diaz C / 1B / Harmony, FL / 2020

Standing at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, he has a lean, athletic and projectable frame. Defensively, he has above average all around actions. He is athletic and flexible, shows feel to receive with strong wrists and shoulders and soft hands. Moves and blocks well, clean transfer and pop times from 2.01-2.08. Offensively, he feature a a simple swing, which is compact and level through the zone. There is present bat speed and strength with more to come. Would expect to be above average defender with solid hit tool and average power.  

 

Danny Neri C / OF / Bishop Snyder, FL / 2020

Georgia Tech recruit, the 6-foot-1, 170 pound left handed hitting catcher has a broad shoulder, projectable frame. Defensively, there is present tools with upside. There is some stiffness, but the hands work well. He has above average arm strength, with pop times ranging from 2.17-2..24 that will continue to improve as he cleans up he catch to release. Offensively, the bat is his best tool. He has long levers and present bal speed. He creates levage and above average pull side power. There is bat to ball skill and power potential with a projectable frame and high offensive upside to follow.  

 

Isaac Ferrer C / 3B / Elev8 Baseball Academy, FL / 2020

A stocky, strong lower half, 5-foot-10, 180 pound right handed hitting catcher. Defensively, e block, moves and receives well and has all of the actions of an above average defender with pop times ranging from 2.14-2.17 that we accurate and on the bag. Offensively, he uses the strong lower half well. Clears the back side and is aggressive to the pull side. Had an exit velocity of 90 mph and present strength with power potential.  

 

Dylan Mock SS / 2B / Lafayette, FL / 2020

Athletic 5-foot-10, 170 pound middle infielder. Defensively, he has a quick first step and works from the ground up. Overall, a very sound defender who should be able to stick in the middle at the next level. Throws were accurate, with carry, topping out at 83 mph. Offensively, he starts slightly open and works closed to a balanced lower half. He has a simple, level swing with present bat to ball skill. Had a single and a line drive to center on the barrel. Overall, he is athletic and toolsy and a middle infielder to follow.
