Uncommitted Spotlight: 2022 Jake Vildostegui

This spring we will be highlighting players throughout the state with Uncommitted Spotlights. We will highlight one 2022, 2023, and 2024 player each week looking for a school to call home. The state of Florida is full of uncommitted players who have the talent to play at the next level. These players deserve as much exposure as they can get in order to help them find the right home.

Today, we will highlight 2022 Jake Vildostegui. Jake is a 5-foot-9, 175 pound outfielder from Steinbrenner High School in Lutz, FL. Outside of high school, Jake plays travel ball with the Top Tier Roos. Jake has been a standout for several years at the Roos Scout Day each December. Quick in the outfield and can cover ground well in center. Offensively, has an aggressive approach to the ball with the ability to spray line drives to both sides of the field.

Scouting Report

1/22/22

5-foot-9, 175-pound strong frame. Solid in the box, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 88 mph. Started in a balanced active stance with a controlled load, then used a quick stride. Bat speed is quick, has a short simple swing plane and balanced finish. Gap to gap approach. Solid in the infield, displayed a velocity of 82 mph; had a fluid exchange, sure hands, and consistent footwork. Solid from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 82 mph; shows a natural exchange, sure hands, and consistent feet. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Had a quick loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.22.
