Uncommitted Spotlight: 2024 Kaiden Lopez

This spring we will be highlighting players throughout the state with Uncommitted Spotlights. We will highlight one 2022, 2023, and 2024 player each week looking for a school to call home. The state of Florida is full of uncommitted players who have the talent to play at the next level. These players deserve as much exposure as they can get in order to help them find the right home.

Today, we will highlight 2024 Kaiden Lopez. Kaiden is a 5-foot-11, 170 pound OF/RHP from Oviedo High School. Outside of high school, Kaiden plays travel ball for Power Baseball. Kaiden was a big standout at the 2021 Sophomore State Games where he represented the East Region. A 6.82 runner with an above average arm in the outfield at 92 mph. Lopez is also a two-way athlete with his fastball recently in the upper 80's. Lopez's athleticism plays on both sides of the ball as is definite uncommitted follow in the 2024 class.

5-foot-10, 160-pound athletic frame. Solid at the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 93 mph. (64.40 mph bat speed average). (21.72 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then uses a leg kick. Has a short swing plane, explosive bat speed and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Aggressive line drive approach. Athletic in the outfield, he showed a plus arm and had life on his throws with a position velocity of 92 mph;had a clean natural exchange, choppy footwork, and consistent hands. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a high ¾ slot and a long arm action. Showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.82 60-yard dash. Solid on the mound, showing consistent arm speed he used an over-the-top arm angle and a long arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses easy effort. Showed athletic balance point and even shoulders. Lands square with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 82-84 mph; shows running action and control around the zone with heavy movement. (Max spin 2109; Avg 1953). Had a tight curveball (70-73) that showed slurvey action and down in the zone control. (Max spin 2280; Avg 2169). His sharp changeup (74-76) shows in the zone control and fading action.
