Prep Baseball Report

Unsigned Senior Spotlight: OF Rashad Blount

Rocco Iervasi
Florida Director of Operations/Area Scout

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season in limbo, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. This spring, we will be spotlighting several uncommitted seniors to help them get the exposure they need to play at the next level in 2021.

Next up is uncommitted 2020 OF Rashad Blount (Booker T. Washington). Blount is an athletic outfielder at 6-foot-1, 181 pounds. He stood out at multiple PBR showcases this past summer.

Scouting Report

8/17/19

6-foot-1, 181-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and first baseman, lanky frame, room for additional muscle. Offensively, balanced setup, starts with weight on back leg, short leg lift stride, hands load back and barrel cocks to vertical, finishes balanced. Gap-to-gap type hitter, flashed ability to drive the ball when on time, inconsistent timing but is still able to generate hard contact given overall physicality in frame, 87 mph exit velocity. Had a multi-hit day during gameplay with two hard hit singles. Defensively, arm works long with some looseness to a high ¾ slot, 80 from the outfield, 74 across the infield.

7/06/19

A lanky 6-foot-1, 181-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Offensively, hits from a tall, narrow setup, hands start near the ear, long stride. Barrel path is steep, levels out at contact, looks to elevate the ball, flashed pull-side pop, 84 mph exit velocity. Ran a 7.46 60. Defensively, arm plays long to a ¾ slot, 76 mph from the outfield. Plays through the ball, fields off to the side, clean footwork and exchanges.
