Westminster Academy Headed to States

Westminster Academy took on Miami Christian in the Regional Finals. The game started Monday, but weather caused it to finish out on Tuesday.

Miami Christian watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-4 loss to Westminster Academy.

Westminster Academy got on the board in the first inning, scoring on a fielder’s choice. The Lions added five runs in the third inning. A hit by pitch, bases loaded walk, error, and RBI single by Luke Dennstedt led to five runs to go up 6-0.

Miami Christian added four runs to cut the lead to 6-4 after five.

Colin Cartagena earned the win for Westminster Academy. The righty allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none.

In the sixth, Westminster added three more on a wild pitch and a two RBI single from Jesus Garcia.

Dennstedt went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Westminster Academy in hits. The Lions defeat Miami Christian 9-4 and move on to states.
