2025 Georgia Preview: Alpharetta Raiders

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Raiders come into 2025 looking to make noise in a tough 9-6A region, and will rely on their pitching staff and senior leadership to navigate their way through the schedule. With a strong starting rotation headed by senior LHP Eli Gerdes and senior two-way RHP/OF Ethan Adams making for a potent 1-2 punch. Gerdes, a Coastal Alabama-South CC commit, has been as consistent as they come with plenty of projection remaining within the lean, high-waisted 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame. On the other side of Gerdes is Adams, one of the top uncommitted players in the state, who looks to make a substantial impact on both sides of the ball. On the mound, Adams profiles nicely with Gerdes, possessing a physicality standing at 6-foot-3, 222-pounds. Armed with a power arsenal, with a fastball in the low to mid 90’s and an obvious feel for the secondaries. Adams will be a staple of the Alpharetta lineup with clear barrel skills and bat-speed to match. 2025 SS Brady McDonough, GCSU commit, will provide a key piece atop the lineup. The smooth swinging lefty possesses excellent bat-to-ball skills with real impact in the barrel. AJ White, a junior catcher, will be a pivotal piece and hold leadership behind the dish as he commands the staff. White brings all-around smooth defensive actions and will provide a consistent bat in the middle of the line-up. 2026 MIF Jack O'Neil and 2026 OF Palmer McRaney will both look to provide a thump throughout the line-up and solid floors. 2026 LHP Matthew Shapiro will bolster the pitching staff behind Gerdes and Adams. Sophomore C/RHP Miller Crane is an intriguing two-way name that will make an impact on both sides of the ball. Incoming Freshman 1B/RHP George Bixby, looks to come in and make an instant impact. The Raiders have an all-around well-rounded squad and will be one to watch as they compete for a region title.
