Prep Baseball Georgia
Staff

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After a very successful season in 2024, the Calvary Day Cavaliers look to continue their winning ways with a strong senior and junior class that include some top-end talent in the region. Leading the way for this year’s Cavaliers squad is RHP Ryan Wallace and Brody Dawson who has proven to be a quality bat in the top-end of the line-up. Wallace and Dawson both look to help guide this Cavs team back to a state championship in a tough region. Some of the leaders in this junior class are Carter Hampton, who was a go-to guy in the state playoffs last year as he came into pitch in the state championship game as well as play multiple position spots and having a multi-hit game, a name to know for this spring. Quinn Johnson, a talented arm on the mound with the ability to swing it as well, Waylan Heidik who has a handful of experience being behind the dish and is a familiar face, and Dalton Kelley who looks to add to his high school campaign this spring. Another name to add to the watch list is 2027 LHP/OF James Mobley, he’s coming off a big fall as he stepped in at QB and took over with a 77% completion percentage and a 28/3 touchdown to interception ratio. He looks to be a star on and off the baseball field with a tool-shed full of talent. With a roster this talented, this is a team that looks to strive for greater results than their unfortunate demise from a year ago. This team has talent and depth at every position and bats that can get hot at any moment. It will be hard to contain a team of this caliber for long, very much looking forward to watching them in 2025.
