Staff

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After a very successful season in 2024, the Cherokee Warriors look to continue their winning ways with a strong senior and junior class that include some top-end talent in the region. Leading the way for this year’s Warriors squad is RHP Reid Worley who is getting a ton of spotlight as he showed-up and showed-out during the Prep Baseball All-American Game flashing unbelievable movement and demand on all pitches. Worley looks to be eligible for the MLB Draft come July of this year. Other leaders from this senior class are Sammy Ericson, and Jared Jones, both looking to add to their high school campaigns with strong showings on the bump this spring. While in the field, Collin McGhee, who showed tremendous speed on the base paths last year with 28 stolen looks to add to his high school career total; and Jayce Jones look to add experience and maturity to the infield or outfield, and be a strong bat in this line-up. For the 2026 grads, OF Andre Sweet was a star that emerged over this past summer while playing at LakePoint, showcasing his phenomenal bat-path technique to the opposite field, a sheer weapon to have on the bases, a true speedster with a wide range and accuracy from the outfield as well. Another top junior for this Cherokee team, MIF Adan Cifuentes, who continues to flash the range in the infield with an accurate arm, and bounce in his feet, will be a fun one to watch as the season continues. A handful of sophomores also look to do some damage in this already stacked batting line-up, OF Huddy Will and INF Brooks Blanton, both look to contribute their talents and will be fun to see their maturity as it gets later in the season. With a roster this talented, this is a team that looks to strive for greater results than their unfortunate demise from a year ago. This team has talent and depth at every position and bats that can get hot at any moment. It will be hard to contain a team of this caliber for long, very much looking forward to watching them in 2025.
