2025 Georgia Preview: Citizens Christian Academy Patriots

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Jeremy Coram and the Patriots return key experience alongside a formidable starting pitching trio at the helm. The #7 ranked player in the state for the 2026 class and Clemson commit, Blake Bryant, anchors the rotation with a deep four-pitch mix. The RHP holds a premium projection on the mound at 6-foot-5, 180-pounds. The two-way RHP/1B hit .350 across last season, in addition to manning the duties at 1B. Bryant, a massive piece for the club’s success, is a key middle of the order bat as well as being a heavyweight on the mound. Last season senior two-way RHP/3B Jonathan Rutland put together a strong campaign. Led the Patriots hitting .391 in addition to, striking out 77 with an ERA of 2.28 in 55.1 IP. The Brewton-Parker commit brings senior leadership and experience, while being a major catalyst on both sides of the ball. Two-way 2028 RHP/SS Thomas Gentry rounds off the rotation. Already an upper 80’s arm heading into his freshman year, Gentry could easily be within the low 90’s this spring. The freshman racked up the accolades last year as an eighth grader, and he has a chance to be an impact name in the state on the mound as well as in the middle infield. 2026 MIF Gray McLean, a prototypical lead-off hitter, sets the tone at the top of the order for the Patriots with a potent hit/speed combo. The RHH shows advanced bat-to-ball skills in an all-fields approach, while reaching base at a high clip. The junior stole a staggering 46 bags last year and keeps constant pressure on opposing pitchers while on the basepaths. McLean seems poised for an even bigger junior season and is an uncommitted name to keep an eye on. A duo of juniors, OF Landon Williams and DH Jackson Knight, present experience and supply depth to the line-up. Sophomores Sam Ables, Jonah Hall, and Landon Baker hold down spots in the line-up with Ables remaining a top option in the bullpen. The Patriots have the arms to take on anyone, immediately making them a must-watch team in GIAA.
