Staff

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Packers are heading into 2025 with Ryan Strickland as their new head coach. Coach Strickland was previously at Thomas County Central where he led the Yellow Jackets to a strong playoff run in ‘24. He will look to do the same in ‘25 with his new squad. They will stack up in a tough region with Tift and Lowndes. The Packers will be full of upperclass experience with a few sophomores that will make an impact. Senior short stop Adam Beverly will be one of the leaders of the team along with a cast of seniors. Beverly can be a tone setter in the line up and a really tough out at the plate. Behind Beverly in the field will be center fielder Brady DeRosso, he can change games with his speed and ability to run balls down in the outfield. They will have a duo of senior lefties on the mound in Gabe Eubanks and Cook Tompkins. 2 of their bigger power bats in the line will be catcher Hayden Hembree and first baseman Jake Walker, who is a Gordon State commit. Outside of this group of seniors they will have a trio of sophomores that will look to make an impact. Byrce Roberts is a versatile defender that could stick anywhere in the field with the ability to hop on the mound as well. Bowen DeRosso really has a chance to have a breakout year at the plate with really good feel for the barrel and power to the pull side. Rounding out the impact underclassmen will be Carter Summerlin. He had a good showing at out South Georgia Fall ID and could mix in behind the dish or in the outfield.
