2025 Georgia Preview: Dunwoody Wildcats

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Kyle Smith and the Wildcats return high-level starting pitching with senior experience in the lineup and will be looking for their first region title since 2022. Yale commit, Senior RHP/3B Matt Pearch will be the bonafide ace for Dunwoody this spring with a durable 6-foot-2 frame and advanced four-pitch mix. A pair of senior RHP in Grayson Zinkand and Ryan Davies round out the rotation, bringing experience as well as coming off highly successful summer campaigns. Senior infielders in SS Zach Paulling and 1B John Kosobud return to pace the lineup after both hit .330+ as juniors and will be looking to make a statement in their senior seasons. Aside from the mound, Pearch will also provide some thump at 3B and senior 2B Caleb Hamilton brings quality bat-to-ball skills to round out a battle-tested group that should lead this team. Junior OF Alec Koehly could have the most power potential/impact for the Wildcats with huge bat speed and strength in the 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame. Could really explode in an expanded role this spring. Another uncommitted junior in C Michael Gregozeski will be tasked with a big role for this club in 2025 as he moves into the everyday role while handling an advanced pitching staff and providing some impact with the bat. Look for sophomore OF/LHP Spencer Leftoff to carve out an impact role on this veteran team by providing an excellent glove in the outfield with a bat to match as well as providing value in the bullpen. The Wildcats have all the pieces to handle the rigors of region play backed by confidence in the starting pitching on any given night. Dunwoody will be ready to roll on February 10th and will be one to watch in region 4-5A.
