The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

A year removed from winning 13 region games and a deep playoff run, Locust Grove comes into 2025 with a ton of quality pieces returning mixed in with some now upperclassmen who gained a ton of experience last year. Junior RHP Christian Colon showed flashes of being a frontline starter as a sophomore, and now takes that role with confidence and could be one of the top uncommitted juniors in the class. Uncommitted senior Logan Burrel and sophomore Liam Collier will be huge assets this spring for Coach Kuhn as middle-of-the-order bats in the corner infield as well as providing good value on the mound. The outfield for the Wildcats is where the offense is really going to thrive. Senior Xavier Blackwell has a chance to be one of the main power producers while juniors Ayden Elliott and Jamir Johnson provide tremendous athleticism with ability to pace the lineup at the top of the order with strong hit/speed combos. Sophomore Nate Comer has the chance to be the breakout underclassman on the roster this spring as a big-time competitor on the mound with budding mid-80s stuff as well providing positional flexibility across the diamond. The Wildcats will be among the favorites in 2-4A and after tasting some success last spring could be aimed for even more in 2025.
