Prep Baseball Georgia
Staff

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

A year removed from winning 29 games alongside a 6A region championship and elite 8 appearance, Marist moves to 4A now with the region realignments and does so with immense returning talent at many premium positions. Two horses lead the rotation in senior RHPs Jamie Vicens and David Albert, who were vital to this club’s success in 2024. Vicens, the Georgia tech commit has emerged as one of the top RHP in the class while Albert remains uncommitted but spins it as well as anyone in Georgia and could have a big platform this spring. Ivy league commit and two-way senior Joe Montembeau will be crucial for the War Eagles as the vocal and defensive leader behind the plate while providing a consistent bat in the lineup and a multi-inning weapon in the pen. Another high-level talent in junior Jack Richerson holds one of the highest ceilings in the class with big-time projection and tools. Likely penciled in as the everyday 3B as well as a high-leverage arm in the bullpen, Richerson has a chance to be a difference maker in 2025. Immense talent across the outfield will pace this squad both offensively and defensively with three committed upperclass veterans in seniors John Loudon and Noah Gerrick with junior and 2024 Future Gamer Martin Shelar rounding it out. The trio provide a high-level blend of speed and power that can pace any lineup, and will force teams to gameplan for on a nightly basis. Senior SS Jack Euart and junior 2B Sean Walsh appear in-line to make up a high-level defensive middle infield while Euart also provides some of the best bat-to-ball skills on the team. Uncommitted junior IF/RHP Roshan Bullard has a chance to be a dynamic “swiss-army knife” for Marist this spring, providing quality depth at multiple infield spots while holding the arm talent to be an asset in either the rotation or bullpen. On paper, it appears hard to poke holes in this lineup while being backed by high-level pitching and for that, I'd put stock on the War Eagles having a chance to make yet another deep playoff run.
