2025 Georgia Preview: McEachern Indians

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Indians came into 2024 as one of the younger teams in their region with underclassmen at many major positions. Coach Eli Autry faced a ton of challenges in a sub-.500 season but gained immense growth in a club that almost completely returns this spring and will be looking to put that growth into the win column. Two of the highest-ceiling sophomores in the class will provide the nucleus for this squad after gaining invaluable experience as freshman. Two-way talent Harry Jones Jr. is already touching low-90s on the mound with two secondaries that already flash above-average as well as locking down a premium defensive position as well. SS Malachi Butler has been consistently making strides across all facets of the profile and will be a major piece at the top of the lineup paired with high defensive upside. Junior 1B Adrien Islas returns after showing a strong all-fields approach while hitting .290 in a near everyday role as sophomore. Another junior in C Jordan Stokes has a chance to be leader for this team with a strong defensive profile and budding bat-to-ball skills that flashed while hitting .279 last year. Leading returning bat and one of the few seniors in the lineup, OF Tyce Williams is looking to build off his .303 junior campaign while providing some of the best power in the lineup. Senior RHP JC Crenshaw returns as the top arm for McEachern after leading the Indians in innings pitched and ERA last spring. Fellow seniors LHP Joseph Allen and RHP Josiah Hatchett fill out the rotation, along with sophomore Harry Jones Jr. to give this team a strong mix of stability and upside. Bullpen will be inexperienced but will have the depth to develop throughout the spring. Hillgrove and Harrison open the season as favorites in the region but McEachern is going to be a torn in a ton of team’s sides in 2025.
