The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After a very successful season in 2024, the Miller County Pirates look to continue their winning ways with a strong senior and junior class that include some top-end talent in the region. Leading the way for this year’s Pirates squad is RHP Andrew Keown who is coming off a commitment to Albany State University, he won 1A Pitcher of the Year in 2024 and looks to add to his high school career with another strong spring. Another leader for this senior class is SS/OF, Gordon State commit, Kolby Yates who is looking to add to his high school campaigns with strong showings at the plate and in the field this season. For the 2026 grad class, Thomas Cook looks to be a stud at the plate and on the mound. Dru Johnson looks to add experience and maturity on the mound and in the field as the junior looks to add to his campaign this spring. An underclassmen that has jumped on to our watch list is sophomore LHP/OF Brayden Horn who looks to do some damage on the mound with a strong bullpen and rotation for this year’s Pirates squad. With a roster this talented, this is a team that looks to strive for greater results than their unfortunate demise from a year ago. This team has talent and depth at every position and bats that can get hot at any moment. It will be hard to contain a team of this caliber for long, very much looking forward to watching them in 2025.
