2025 Georgia Preview: Model Blue Devils

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

Team Strengths:  Experience, Large Senior Class, 10 returners that played significant time last year.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Patch and the Blue Devils will look to get past that 1st round playoffs appearance from last season. They have the experience returning with a large group that played last season. They will lose a top sophomore prospect in Jonah Winton, but have the group for a potential region title and playoff run. The senior group is going to be the core of this team. They all play multiple positions and will contribute on the mound and in the line up. Cooper Dean and Jared Terhune will patrol the infield, both have some of the top gloves in the state, and will be a really tough out at the plate. Ripken West and Hudson Latimer will spend time in the outfield, but can move around as needed. They both will be big pieces on the mound. Ryan Camp will control things behind the dish and provide some power in the line up. Junior, Georgia Southern commit Reece Grodeman will be the ace on the mound as well as a big bat in the line up. We will be excited to get out to see him this spring, we could see him sitting low 90’s later in the season. Fellow junior, Landen Mitchell will provide relief in the infield when one of the seniors are on the mound, he can also do the same in the OF. He will be a steady bat in the line up as the DH. Sophomore Brantley Patch looked really strong at Preseason All-State and will look to play a huge role both on the mound and at the plate. Copeland Ayers is a player we got to see a couple years back at a scout day and have been following ever since. He will be another 2 way contributor that could make a real impact for the Blue Devils the next 3 years. Coach Patch has a really versatile group that will be in the hunt for a region title in 2025 and look to make a run in the 1A playoffs.
