2025 Georgia Preview: North Murray Mountaineers

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Mountaineers nearly retained their entire roster from a year ago as they will look to lean on their experience and depth, in order to navigate through the schedule. Seniors, OF Caden Bush and INF/RHP Caden Painter, hold senior leadership and will provide the core for the Mountaineers. Painter also anchors the pitching staff at the top. Senior Trevor Beard, a lean, high-waisted 6-foot-4, 190-pound power-arm from the left-side, is an uncommitted name to monitor at North Murray this Spring. Along with being an athletic mover on the mound coupled with an upper-80's fastball. Beard is a considerable factor to the club's success out of rotation. 2026 C Landon Atkins brings experience to the line-up and behind the plate, in addition to providing a depth piece to the bullpen. Juniors 2B Joel Mallett and SS Leonardo Hernandez fill out the middle infield, while looking to make contributions to the rotation. After seeing key time as a freshman last year, sophomore two-way OF/LHP Anthony Skojac returns and is expected to build off last season heading into his sophomore campaign. Freshmen, Jordan Coker and Cooper Baldridge, are forecasted to both be called upon to contribute quality innings on the mound for the club. It's not going to be easy competing in the same region with the likes of North Cobb Christian, Ringgold, and Rockmart but Coach Sane and crew will have this group ready to roll on February 11th.
