The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Despite losing two big-time starting pitchers from a playoff team, Coach Jamie Suggs returns a ton of significant pieces in 2025, and the Lions have a real chance to make noise once again. Two senior arms in LHP Luke Clanahan and RHP Eric Fountain bring experience and pitchability atop the front of the rotation as well as pure stuff to win big games in region. The outfield has a chance to lead this team offensively headlined by a trio of toolsy juniors in Nicolas Taylor, Aaron Alonso and Christopher Jones Jr., who just had a great showing at preseason all-state recently. Another pair of juniors in 1B Brady Holt and 3B/RHP Jaxon Barron will be vital pieces for this club as Holt returns as a multi-year starter with a reliable stick in the middle of the order, while Barron could round out the rotation as well as an everyday role at 3B. Up the middle, the uncommitted duo of junior 2B Andrew Forbes and new addition SS Eric Grunduski will solidify the defense for the Lions, with Grunduski offering one of the best gloves in the class. Senior Charles Culberson and junior Cesar Paez-Perez give the Lions an advanced pair of backstops who both their value to this roster and will be significant pieces throughout the spring. If you're looking for an underclassman to make an impact for Ridge this spring, it could be sophomore OF/1B Carson Klinger, who brings quality positional flexibility and budding impact in the barrel. This will be a gritty bunch who will be striving for a deeper playoff run in 2025.
