2025 Georgia Team Previews: Mountain View Bears

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Bears come into the spring in another loaded region with a ton of 2024 production to replace, but Coach Johnson will have a squad of players ready and looking to make names for themselves. It starts with sophomore two-way Andrew Brech, who’s been a breakout in the 2027 class throughout 2024 and will be locked into a SP1 role as well as holding down SS for the Bears. Expectations will be high after gaining experience as a freshman and with the tools to thrive. Senior Julian Hayes and junior Trevor Waite will be vital this spring as they look to fill out the rotation alongside Brech while also both likely batting in the top half of the lineup. Nick Clayborn brings veteran leadership as a senior behind the plate and junior OF Sean Forbes has a chance to be a run-producing stick in a corner OF spot. A pair of underclassmen in freshman Jameson Jones and sophomore Joey Storey are likely to hold everyday roles on the right-side on the infield with a big opportunity early on in their high school careers. Overall, the Bears have a ton of team speed with potential to grow quickly as a team while playing with house money.
