2025 Team Preview: Providence Christian Academy Storm

The 2025 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

After recently talking with Providence Christian at the Gwinnett County media day, we know they feel strong about their team headed into the 2025 season. They have a heavy group of upperclassmen full of talent. Seniors Killian DeMayo and Bryan Chesnut will be the 1-2 bunch on the mound. Bryan will play a key starter role and Killian will be coming out of the pen and closing. They both have high expectations for themselves and the team this season. Catcher Reece Newberry is excited to lead the team both behind the plate and on the mound. Left handed junior, Sylas Brooks is an uncommitted prospect to keep an eye on this spring and summer. He has been on a steady climb of the last couple of years and is really starting to put it all together. South Florida commit, Santos Wade had a breakout summer and fall landing him a spot in the sunshine state to play at the next level. Wade is one of the smoothest defenders in the state and really came into his power at the plate this summer. Coach Cantrell is excited for what is to come in 2025 with an experienced group with some young talent on the way.
