Georgia Dugout Club, PBR Announce Partnership

By PBR Georgia Staff

Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce that, starting in 2020, the storied Georgia Dugout Club organization will be partnering with Prep Baseball Report and the LakePoint Sporting Community to host the 55th edition of the Georgia Dugout Club Spring Tournament.

Since 1962, the Georgia Dugout Club (GDC) has helped guide the amateur baseball hotbed of Georgia by hosting annual tournaments, awards ceremonies, as well as clinics featuring dignified speakers offering their expertise.

For nearly 60 years, the GDC has arranged a tournament each spring. Next spring, however, many of the state’s top programs and prospects will be in one place, at LakePoint, as the Prep Baseball Report will help facilitate and streamline the prestigious tournament. The eight all-turf stadium fields will ensure that games get played, rain or shine.

The GDC tournaments will be stretched across two weekends in mid-February at the state-of-the-art baseball complex in Emerson. LakePoint has been a reliable option for high school coaches in the greater Atlanta area in need of a site to play their early season games on the calendar, especially amidst the rainfall the area has endured during this 2019 season.

The 2020 tournament will be held be held on Feb. 14-15 and again on Feb. 21-22. Both weekends will feature, at maximum, 32 teams, registered at a first-come, first-served basis.

Additional details, as follows:

  • Participating teams are guaranteed three games each weekend; one on Friday night and a doubleheader on Saturday.

  • Each of the eight LakePoint fields will host a four-team bracket (32 teams in total). A trophy will be presented to each bracket winner at the conclusion of the tournament.

  • To enter your program into the tournament, you will have two options:

    1. Contact Harvey Cochran via email at [email protected] (include mobile phone number, school name and GHSA classification, as well as weekends participating, either one or both).

    2. Fill out an accompanying online form, which can be found at this link.

    3. A $350 non-refundable entry fee will cover umpire payments in addition to field expenses. Each team will be required to supply three baseballs per game. This fee is due at the time of both your clinic fees and dues. Send all payments to Harvey Cochran at the following address: 3193 Battle Park Way, Marietta, GA 30064.

We anticipate this tournament will fill up quickly, so do not delay.
