GHSA Playoffs - Wesleyan vs Mount Paran: Game 3

Justin Goetz

Norcross, GA - With 2 loaded rosters full of draft prospects and D1 talent, this game turned out to be just as good as it looked on paper. Wesleyan seemed like underdogs with the absolutely stacked Mount Paran lineup, as they controlled the first half of the game. The tides turned in the later innings, with good pitching and a legendary Cooper Blauser walk off that led to a 7-6 victory in the bottom of the 8th. This resilient Wesleyan Wolves team is very deserving of a State Championship appearance.

Tate McKee, RHP/SS, 2023
Georgia Tech commit. The projectable 6 foot 2, 175 pounder with broad shoulders, long levers and lean strength is one of the best two-way players in the state for 2023. He makes every action look easy, which is one of the most important traits of a prospect. Tate has the combination of standout athleticism and well sequenced mechanics at the plate and on the mound. At the dish, he’s got a centered base and good balance from head to toe, aided by the athletic bend in his knees. The slightly closed stance & long levers allow him to cover the outside edge with ease, as he has no worries about going pull side against good velo with his good hip clearance and fast hands. He spends little time going back with his hips, smoothly gaining ground to attack the baseball in front of the plate for power production. On the hill, he’s got a compact, well paced delivery..
