Most Viewed Profiles of 2022: No. 9 Sam Horn

As we begin to close the book on 2022 and shift our focus to a brand-new year, we continue our tradition of highlighting the Top-25 Most Viewed Profiles for the calendar year. Using Google Analytics, our staff was able to compile a list of the Top-25 prospects whose PBR profile was viewed the most in 2022. Many of the players mentioned on this list produced at a high level at various PBR events over the course of the last 12 months.

Starting on December 7th, we began counting down from No. 25 all the way to No. 1, which will be announced on December 31st. Landing at No. 9 in our countdown of the most viewed profiles of 2022 is current Missouri Tiger and former Collins Hill Eagle, RHP Sam Horn.

7/01/22
Mizzou Commit. 6 foot 4, 200 pounds. This is a prototype front end starter with a combo of finesse and power. It's easily one of the better HS deliveries in the country - timing, balance, gradual build up of pace (creates ease of operation), patience over rubber in separation, impeccable direction, sequence from start to finish. The mid-depth, full circle arm action is very clean and works in one fluid piece from a high ¾ slot. It’s more of a north/south rotation in the upper half, matching his slot well. He’s an incredibly efficient mover who’s an MILB pitching coordinator's dream. Why? There’s nothing to adjust in Horn’s delivery and he’s an elite strike thrower for his age. So you’re essentially just working on approach, pitch design, studying hitters, and getting him stronger & more flexible/mobile! We can’t explain to you enough how rare this is, a club can essentially get an advanced college arm who’s 18 years old with much less mileage. They can mold Sam into exactly what they want when he’s at the tip of the iceberg potential wise. He attacks RHH early in the count with his 88-90 T91 2 seamer that consistently shows edge to edge run, and he’s confident enough to front hip it to LHH for the freeze. This is a pitch sure to have plus life & command. He likes to work his 4 seamer later in counts at 91-92 T95 up in the zone with some carry, but it's just as effective down in the zone on a steep plane. It looks to have avg life with future A/AVG or better command. His CB has plus potential at 78-81 with tight rotation, powerful 2 plane depth, some late sweep, and he can throw for strikes or K’s. It will blend into a hybrid at times and we feel he will be able to develop a lateral SL to go with it. He’s also got a downer CH in the mid 80’s with late fade that should develop into an avg or better MLB offering in the future! Horn has some of the better leverage in the draft being a heralded QB1/RHP commit, and it’s going to be tough for teams to look past his athleticism and projection. It will take quite a bit of bonus pool to get him to forgo college, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see him sign above slot on Day 1 or 2.

Mizzou commit. 6 foot 4, 200 pounds, prototype RHS frame & athleticism. Went 3 INN w/ great tempo, clean delivery & consistent direction. Attacked RHH w/ nasty 88-90 2 seamer that would’ve broken multiple bats, worked 4 seam to both edges effortlessly 90-92 T94 w/ heavy run & sink. Pitched backwards w/ 78-81 CB/SL with hybrid shape at times but consistent 2 plane depth & late snap. Identical plane to FB. With his rare athleticism+pitchability, spotless delivery, and ability to command 2 FB’s w/ consistent life, Sam Horn could easily have the most potential of any arm in the GA 2022 class.

6-foot-3, 170-pound right-handed pitcher and switch-hitting shortstop, long, lanky frame, athletically build, projectable. Really burst onto the scene this spring at the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament in February with a fastball that is touching 90 mph. Facing a talented Mill Creek team, did have some command issues, but showed the same type of stuff that makes him one of the top arms in the state. Arm works quick and clean with looseness to a ¾ slot. Fastball sat 86-89, touched 90 with some life. Changeup, throws aggressively, 81-83, fade action. Slider, short sweeper, 74-77. High follow arm.

2/22/20
6-foot-3, 175-pound switch-hitting two-way prospect, long, athletic frame, some strength in lower half, but only just beginning to fill out his frame, much more to come as he continues to physically mature, high follow prospect. On the mound, arm works continuously with a stab on the back-side, quick arm speed allows from him to accelerate and get out front on-time to a ¾ slot. Stays tall throughout his delivery, short break in his back leg as he strides on-line, finishes square to home. Fastball sat 86-89, touched 90, with armside run, was not afraid to go inside with. Slider, 11/5 shape, good shape, 76-77, with how quick his arm is there is potential to throw the pitch harder. At the plate, looked comfortable hitting from both sides, with more strength will drive the ball gap-to-gap.
