Carrollton, GA - A Power-25 matchup took place in Carrollton Monday as the No. 2 Trojans hosted the No. 23 Wesleyan Wolves in a game that did not disappoint. Seven innings were not enough for these two teams, as Carrollton edged the Wolves in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the tenth inning, 4-2.

Two lefties took the mound to start the game for both teams. 2021 South Alabama recruit, Eli Runyan, got the ball for Carrollton and Uncommitted 2021, Jimmy Cox, for the Wolves. Runyan battled throughout the outing, showing a fastball around the zone at 81-84, while mixing in a breaking ball at 72.

Cox challenged hitters with three pitches and found success after giving up two runs in the first inning. Fastball sat 77-80, with a curveball at 66-68, and a changeup with significant drop at 69.

The Carrollton Trojans struck first, thanks to a big two-run homerun from 2021 C Georgia recruit, Bear Madliak, giving his team a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Wesleyan answered in the third inning as Uncommitted 2022 Nate Kerpics leadoff the inning with a single. From there, the Wolves added two more runners, and 2021 CIF Kentucky recruit, James McCoy, worked a bases-loaded walk to bring home the Wolves' first run of the game. After a misplay by the Trojans outfield, the Wolves were able to bring home the tying run in the same inning. That would be the last either team would score for the next seven innings, as both bullpen arms were outstanding on the night.

2021 LHP Mercer recruit, Colton Cosper, threw seven innings of no-run ball. Cosper struck out fourteen Wesleyan hitters, primarily using a fastball/changeup mix. The fastball showed late run at 81-83, with the changeup coming in at 71-73.

On the other side, Uncommitted 2023 two-way threat, Dominick Scalese, threw four innings, while striking out six hitters. Scalese, who has run the fastball to the upper-80s in the past, sat 83-85 with solid command. Scalese’s breaking ball found success with sharp action at 70-71.

In the bottom of the tenth inning, the stage was set again for Bear Madliak, with a runner on first base. Madliak, who had four hits on the night, squared up another ball that soured over the LF fence for a walk-off, two-run homerun. Carrollton took the victory by a score of 4-2.

Carrollton will look to continue their winning ways as they host Bremen on Friday. Wesleyan will have another good matchup, as they travel to Brookwood on Wednesday.
