Grayson, GA - 7A region play kicked off on Monday, as the undefeated Rams of Grayson (10-0) hosted the Parkview Panthers (7-6). Grayson, ranked No. 5 in this week’s PBR Georgia Power-25, looked to continue their winning ways over a Parkview team that has made strides over the last two weeks. Both teams received solid starts from both of their left-handed pitchers, but Grayson used a 6-run sixth inning to take a 9-2 victory.

Parkview struck first in the top of the second inning. Uncommitted OF/RHP, Sam Smith (2021), lead-off the inning with a deep triple. Walters State recruit, Cade Sadler (2021), knocked Smith in with a ground ball to second base.

Parkview threatened with bases-loaded in the third, but Grayson was able to escape. Both teams remained at bay until the bottom of the fourth inning when Grayson put up 2 runs. Cole Flink (2022) tied the ball game at 1-run with an RBI single up the middle.
Uncommitted OF, Kameron Byrd (2022), gave the Rams their first lead of the game with an RBI SAC fly to RF.
With runners on first and second base in the top of the fifth inning, Sam Smith hit his second extra base-hit of the game. This time, Smith turned on a pitch down the LF line, bringing in one run. As Parkview looked to score an additional run on the play, Grayson’s shortstop, De’yon Cannon (East Tennessee State; 2022), completed a relay with a strong throw to the catcher, Henry Hunter (Samford; 2021), to keep the game tied at 2.
Grayson would quickly regain the lead in the bottom-half of the fifth-inning, thanks to starting pitcher, Bodie Eilertson (2021). Eilertson, who went 6 IP, and got the win on the mound, while sitting 82-85, knocked in a run on a SAC fly to to LF.
Grayson would tack on 6 runs in the sixth-inning, including an RBI double by Cannon. The Rams would take a 9-2 victory.
Both teams will be back in action this week, in part of a three-game-series. Game two will take place at Parkview on Wednesday.
