PBR Georgia Staff
Hudson Graham

The 2023 Georgia high school baseball season is less than a month away. With the season getting pushed up one week the coaches and players have an extra week to prepare for opening day. Will it be sunny and 75? Or below freezing for opening day? The Georgia weather is unpredictable, just like trying to predict who will come out on top of each classification. The talent in the State of Georgia continues to be one of the best in the country. Some regions have a fresh new look, and some region foes will continue to battle for that top spot to earn the best road to the state championship.

We will begin to preview our Power 25 rankings each day until the season begins. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each GHSA classification as well as a Power 25. Be sure to follow PBR Georgia on twitter for live action each week, as our staff travels throughout the state to cover baseball in the great state of Georgia.

Team Outlook
The talented south Georgia squad is poised to make another postseason run. The heavily relied on sophomores are now a year older, and ready to finish the job in 2023. The core seniors, Qrey Lott, Cooper Melvin and Weston Turner will lead the offense. Turner has been a favorite at LakePoint the past few summers. The athletic right handed hitter always seems to find a way to get on base.  ABAC commit Cooper Melvin will supply the power in the line up.

Qrey Lott OF / RHP / Lowndes, GA / 2023

Cooper Melvin 1B / 3B / Lowndes, GA / 2023

Weston Turner MIF / OF / Lowndes, GA / 2023

Juniors Tate Sirmans and Carson Page are two of the top hitters in the 2024 class. They will need another big season to get the Viking back to the playoffs. Noah Thigpen was one of the top arms at the campus tour this fall. Thigpen has a high ceiling and the velo only continues to climb. Their first big test this year will be against Houston County, the second game of the season. The Vikings have been a staple in the GHSA playoffs the last few years. This team could have the deepest run the last few years.

Tate Sirmans 3B / SS / Lowndes, GA / 2024

Carson Page SS / 2B / Lowndes, GA / 2024

Noah Thigpen RHP / 3B / Lowndes, GA / 2024
