PBR Georgia Staff
Hudson Graham

The 2023 Georgia high school baseball season is less than a month away. With the season getting pushed up one week the coaches and players have an extra week to prepare for opening day. Will it be sunny and 75? Or below freezing for opening day? The Georgia weather is unpredictable, just like trying to predict who will come out on top of each classification. The talent in the State of Georgia continues to be one of the best in the country. Some regions have a fresh new look, and some region foes will continue to battle for that top spot to earn the best road to the state championship.

We will begin to preview our Power 25 rankings each day until the season begins. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each GHSA classification as well as a Power 25. Be sure to follow PBR Georgia on twitter for live action each week, as our staff travels throughout the state to cover baseball in the great state of Georgia.

Team Outlook

New head coach Robby Gilbert looks to keep the Broncos healthy this spring. Last year they opened their season up against some of the top teams in the state, and lost some hard fought games. They suffered a few  injuries and could not get back on track. In 2023 they have a new region where Parkview will be their biggest test. After losing Dylan Lonergan to early enrollment at Alabama the Broncos will need some pitchers to step up. Jackson Barberi and Clinton Harris will be two guys that they will need. Barberi has jumped 10 mph in the last calendar year, sitting in the 88-90 range with his FB. He will be a huge piece to the Broncos success this spring. He will be the new ace for the team. Clinton Harris has the chance to be the next guy up after Barberi. He was up to 89 at the underclass games this summer, and he is beginning to creep into the low 90’s now.

Preston Bonn will be controlling these 2 guys behind the plate. The Kennesaw State commit is one of the top catchers in the state. There are not many guys better defensively than Bonn. Offensively, he shows great rhythm and fluidity in the swing, and it starts in the slow flow of the hips. His hands stay active from the moment he sets up, but the most important part is that they stay in one compact area. This allows him to feel the timing and stretch of separation and prevents his hands from stagnating at any point in the forward move. Kedean Madden and Ethan Reyes will need to help Bonn supply the offense for the Broncos. Cody Fuller has the tools to have a  big season. At the underclass games this summer he put up some great numbers. Coach Gilbert has a great core to win some ball games this spring, but if some pitchers can step up and hitters stay consistent they have the chance to compete with Parkview for a region title.
