Week 9 of the 2023 high school season has concluded. Many teams are beginning their final stretch in preparation for the playoffs. Seasons are on the line, and region standing are tightening up. Pope joins the top 10 for the first time this season. They are playoff contenders year in and year out, and 2023 is no different. Sophomore Ethan Garrett has been a key piece on the mound for the Greyhounds. Jack Myers, Carson Kerce, and Kent Schmidt look to lead the line up deep into the playoffs once again.
Pickens is 22-3 and putting together a program best season. They are led by 3 starters on the mound that are putting up some of the best numbers in the state. Connor Shouse, AJ Rice, and James Tilley give the Dragons a chance to win every week. Look for the Dragons to go deep into the 3A playoffs.
Kennesaw Mountain jumps into the power 25 for the first time this year. They beat Cherokee to take over 1st place in the region, and haven't looked back since. They are led by power bat Sam Parker, Eliud Poventud, and freshman Isander Poventud. They control their own destiny now, so if they win the series against Osborne and North Cobb they will be region champs.
