Week 5 Update

A new number one emerges after 15 straight wins to open up the 2023 season. Blessed Trinity continues to out score their opponents by large margins. They look to sweep their 3rd region opponent this week. The Titans will be tested down the road when they face Lassiter and Pope for their last 2 region series. If everything continues its course those 2 series will decide the 1-3 finishers in the region. Bishop Gorman has become one of the top teams in the country from our latest national update, so we look forward to seeing that match up on March 29th. 

Cherokee Bluff moves up to number #5. The Bears continue to prove why they are one of the top teams in the state. Senior, Georgia Southern commit Bryce England is having a monster year. Batting .522 with 5 home runs and 22 RBI's. Ty Corbin and Davidson commit Jacob Vokal are not far behind him at .464 and .432. Both are 2 of the most dynamic players in the state with 31 stolen bases and 32 runs scored combined. Uncommitted senior, Brady Stephens has been lights out on the mound. In 15 innings pitched and 3 starts he has yet to allow a run and has 24 strikeouts. 

Tift County jumps into the top 25 at #19. They are 11-2 on the year, and will face their biggest test of the year this week against 10-4 Thomas County Central. Tift is led by sophomore John Davis. He is batting .490 on the year and has 19 innings with a 3.25 ERA. Junior Brady Mortez is also having a great year batting .366.Freshman Kennesaw State commit, Tyler VanSumeren is starting to find his groove at the plate with a couple doubles and one triple. He has 7 innings on the mound with  1.00 ERA.  The Houston County series is circled on our schedule for a can't miss region match up. 

Other newcomers include River Ridge, Harlem, and Glynn Academy. Harlem remains as one of the few undefeated teams in the state. River Ridge looks to take the region lead before facing cross county rivals Etowah and Woodstock towards the end of the season. Glynn Academy has had some great seasons the last few years, and they look to keep 2023 the same way.
