Season Review: Thomas County Central

Hudson Graham
PBR Georgia Staff

Our goal at Prep Baseball Report is to promote high school players, and give them the exposure they need to be able to play at the next level. With the 2020 high school season cancelled, we want to continue to be able to promote players, even when baseball is not being played. We have sent surveys out to coaches around the state and got their input on the first weeks of the season. Over the next few weeks, we will highlight the season and standout players, team by team.

THOMAS cOUNTY cENTRAL

Record: 6-6 (3-1)

Thomas County Central had four returning seniors after graduating eight in 2019. They were off to a good start and had numerous young players stepping up. Five of their loses were by three runs or less, plus they had a schedule loaded with higher classification schools including, Lee County, Coffee County, and Tift County with all three teams ranked in the top 10 within their respective classes. TCC looks to build with their young talent, and make a push in 2021.

Season Statistics: .300 BA, 2 2B in 20 at bats

Coach's Notes: Impressive build for a freshman, has shot up to 6-foot-1 and added on 10 pounds to sit at 180-pounds. The height and weight gain translates to big pop at the plate, and he finds a lot of barrels consistently.

Underclass Invitational Attendee
Stats: Max FB: 80, EXT VELO: 88

1/12/20 - UTL Reid Harvey (Thomas County Central, 2023) will be a prospect to keep an eye on out of the southern part of Georgia. Harvey is a physical right-handed hitter at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds. The swing has length to it, however he is able to consistently elevate and drive the ball gap-to-gap with an 88 mph exit velocity. Only a freshman, Harvey will make an immediate impact this spring.

Griffin Taylor, RHP, Thomas County Central, 2023

1.31 ERA, 21.1 IP, 22K, 6BB, 13 hits
