Top Uncommitted 2019 Arms/Athletes

With the release of the PBR Overall Rankings for the 2019 class, On the Hunt looks at some of the top uncommitted players that made the list. Although a great deal of players have made their commitments, recruiters are still heavily involved in filling their 2019 classes, and these players figure to be heavily sought after. Included below are a collection of potential frontline pitchers with powerful arms as well as a couple of two-way prospects with big bats. Players included come from Arizona, Canada, Georgia, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Connor Prielipp LHP / Tomah, WI / 2019

Prielipp’s projectable, 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame and strong left arm make him one of the elite, uncommitted prospects left in the 2019 class. Reports came in all spring of the impressive outings that the long-limbed southpaw had with a plethora of strikeouts in each one. When I watched him in June at the Midwest Prospect League, his fastball ran up as high as 92 mph out of a high ¾ slot with some natural arm side life in the zone. There was some effort out front after a more uptempo, athletic delivery, and though he is not far from being polished, there are still multiple things that he will be able to develop in the future...which is scary considering the present stuff. His slider stood out as a potential plus-pitch in the future and was thrown at 77-79, procuring multiple swings and misses. It was with the slider that I saw the most upside for Prielipp moving forward, although his changeup showed fading action 79-80, and very well may turn into a weapon as well. Overall, Prielipp has the arsenal to continue rising within the class, and as he polishes the “pure stuff” that he already possesses, he may catch that helium sooner rather than later.
