LakePoint Rising Stars ID: Quick Hits

Prep Baseball Georgia
Staff

EMERSON, GA - The Prep Baseball Georgia staff hosted the LakePoint Rising Stars Preseason ID on February 17th. This event was an opportunity to see a talented group of 2029-2030 players. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 30 yard dash using VALD Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw short bullpens with Trackman. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Monday. Later this week, we will break down the stat leaders from the more traditional categories. Today, the scouting staff wrote up a short list of some of the top players that caught our eye from the event. More post-event content coming this week!

Carson Florence, SS/RHP, 2029, Blessed Trinity
Florence filled it up while on the mound. Presenting a three pitch-mix with some feel for spin. The fastball lived 76-77 and the slider/changeup mix was thrown in the low 60s. An athletic mover on the mound with clear arm speed. As well as displaying smooth infield movements and clean footwork. At the plate, the athletic LHH found the barrel regularly with a narrow stance and a longer bat path that showed the ability to generate loft.

Coleman Conner, C/RHP, 2030, Mount Paran
It was an all-around impressive day from Conner in all facets. On the mound the RHP shows quality movements with present arm strength while getting downhill. Threw the fastball in the low 70s that topped at 75. While flashing a changeup and slider in the mid to upper 60s. At the plate, Conner exhibits a balanced approach with a short compact cut. In addition to presenting athletic movements both behind the plate and in the dirt while displaying the arm strength once again with a max IF velo of 78.

Logan Moss, RHP/SS, 2029, Social Circle
Moss showed a present feel for all three of his pitches with the ability to land for strikes. The fastball was thrown from 69-72. While flashing a curveball in the mid 60s with a good feel to spin and land in-zone. The changeup was shown in the upper 60s. An easy mover on the mound with repeatable mechanics. In the box Moss displayed a balanced stance with some ability to lift the ball to all-fields. As well as presenting a strong arm across the diamond with a max IF velo of 75.

Griffin Euratte, SS/OF, 2029, Sequoyah
Impressive round of batting practice as the hit tools stood out early. A very smooth swing and excellent body control that show great feel for the barrel and an above-average feel for an all-fields approach. Easy mover from the infield with good footwork and the ability to make plays with his legs. Simple and easy movements at the plate and also in the field, shows a good understanding of matching plane and hitting solid line-drives through the infield. Will be a fun player to watch as he continues to grow and develop.

Garrison Aiken, C/RHP, 2029, Hampton
Really fun player to watch as the tools were visible at the plate. Displayed a solid feel for the barrel in both batters boxes while showing an all-fields approach from both sides. Simple movements in the box, with similar mechanics from both his right and left handed swings. Short load that gets the front foot down and allows for the hands to catch up while showing good internal rotation to get those hands extended for pull-side barrels. Showed athleticism behind the plate with accurate throws to second with a sub-2.39 second pop time and 63 catchers velo. Showed a four pitch mix on the mound with a FB in the upper 60’s, CV in the mid 50’s, CH in the low 60’s, and a SL in the mid 50’s as well. CV and SL both had distinctive shapes and will continue to get better as the arm continues to develop.
