VALDOSTA, GA  - The Prep Baseball Georgia Staff traveled south for the South Georgia Preseason ID.  This event was an opportunity to see a talented group from the 2025-2028 class. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60 yard dash, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw using Trackman. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing. Our goal at Prep Baseball is to travel around the state of Georgia to find the hidden talent among the different regions within the peach state.

Today, we will dive into the metrics from the infielders that attended with the help of our tech partners, broken down by each individiual player below.

Franklin Griffin III, Northgate (GA), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-4, 110 pounds.
Hit: LHH. Coiled, hands tight to the ear. Wide, open stance Steeper path through the zone creates leverage 59 mph bat speed with 9g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 mph max exit velocity (79.3 avg.); 315-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH.INF - 82.00 mph. Shorter action with ability to mix slots with accuracy
Defense: Quality footwork and body control of the lower half. Works through the ball well.

Power: 75 mph max exit velocity (69.3 avg.); 237-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH.INF - 68.00 mph. Longer action while maintaining a three-quarters slot.
Defense: Some flexibility in the lower half. Moves laterally well.

Body: 6-0, 155 pounds.
Hit: LHH. Wider, even base. Quiet hands starting below the ear. Consistent contact through the zone with an uphill path that creates leverage well. mph bat speed with g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 87 mph max exit velocity (80.2 avg.); 259-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH.INF - 80.00 mph. Compact action with some whip and ability to mix slots while maintains accuracy
Defense: Bouncy first step with good lateral actions that cover a ton of ground. Soft hands on transfers and good flexibility in the lower half

Trace Harrell, Lowndes High School (GA), 2026
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 5-7, 153 pounds.
Hit: RHH. Short, narrow set up. Flat hands. Works short to long through the zone in a pull-side heavy approach. 72 mph bat speed with 8g of rotational acceleration.

Arm: RH.INF - 74.00 mph. Compact action with present arm speed and ability to mix slots.
Defense: Good range working laterally with confident footwork and ability to bend at the waist.

Body: 5-10, 170 pounds.
Hit: LHH. Squatted, even base. Hands sit lower at the shoulders. Great balance in the back hip before utilizing a linear path through the zone with consistent contact. 60.1 mph bat speed with 17g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 85 mph max exit velocity (77.7 avg.); 269-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 74.00 mph. Compact, but loose while showing some whip in a lower slot. More strength to come.
Defense: Great first step with lateral range in all directions. Body control and footwork work in unison and covers ground with ease. Long-term middle infield actions and glove.

Mason O'Neil, Benedictine Military (GA), 2026
Positional Profile: 1B/LHP
Body: 6-0, 182 pounds.
Hit: LHH. Taller, slightly closed base. Lower hand slot, sitting under the shoulders. Quick trigger to stay on-time and balanced with some ability to manipulate the barrel in-zone. 66.7 mph bat speed with 11g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 95 mph max exit velocity (83.6 avg.); 342-foot max batted distance.
Arm: LH. INF - 82.00 mph. Higher arm slot with some present arm speed.
Defense: Shows good lateral movements with some range and great positioning to anticipate. Soft hands on transfers really stand out.

Hit: RHH. Wide, open base. High handset that sits behind the ears. Creates some separation while working short to long in a primary pull-side approach. 72.6 mph bat speed with 9g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 98 mph max exit velocity (78.3 avg.); 360-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 83.00 mph. Loose, three-quarters action with present arm strength and consistent carry across.
Defense: Good lateral actions with range in either direction. Bends well for the frame.
