2025 TEAM OUTLOOK
High School: Kamehameha Schools - Kapālama Campus (Honolulu, HI)
Head Coach: Daryl Kitagawa
HHSAA Classification: Division I
Conference: Interscholastic League of Honolulu
2024 Record: 19-8
+ No. Returning Positional Starters: 4.5
+ No. Returning Pitchers: 8
The Warriors are coming off another strong 19-8 season in 2024 that saw the team reach the DI State Semi-Finals before falling 3-2 to Baldwin. Kapālama returns a strong crop of players from that 2024 team and they look to eager to improve on their Top 4 finish from last spring. The senior class runs deep with six total commitments including four at the Division I level.
While the senior class will lead the way, the Warriors will also get reinforcements from the 2027 class as several newcomers are eager to make a good first impression, including one of the top 2026s in the State. The Warriors very well might boast the strongest roster on paper and will be an exciting team to watch all spring long in Honolulu.
TOP RETURNING PLAYERS
One of the top returning strengths for the Warriors will be their high-level upperclass arms and will be led by the 2024 Prep Baseball Hawaii Player of the Year, '25 RHP Greyson Osbun (Nevada Commit). Osbun dominated all spring long in 2024 as he went 6-1 with a 1.48 ERA and 53 strikeouts to just 15 walks. Beyond Osbun, the Warriors still boast several high-impact arms with '25 LHP Alaka'i Kiakona (USC Commit), '25 RHP Elai Iwanaga (UCLA Commit), '25 RHP Kainoa Kaneshiro (Nevada Commit) and '25 LHP Logan Sanchez (Hawaii-Hilo).
This group above might be the best rotation in the State and will prove to be a tough test for opposing offenses each time they take the field. Beyond the talented group of players above, the Warriors still have several other top returning players left to cover. On the positional side, Kapālama will look to '25 INF Cole Kia'i Sylvester (Uncommitted), '25 INF Kaulana Quinlan (Uncommitted), 1B/3B Dillon Andres (Saint Martin's Commit) and '26 OF/RHP Kaleb Flores (Uncommitted) to help provide the bulk of the offense, along with some of the arms possessing two-way abilities.
The upperclass comes with plenty of pedigree and the offense will something to follow early on in the season as they look to keep up with the pitching rotation.
TOP NEWCOMERS
While the team will be led by their strong crop of returning players, they will also be getting some youth infused into the program with a trio of 2027 players looking to make their mark in their first varsity season. '27 RHP/C Pono Kong (Uncommitted) will be the most impactful as he's currently one of the top 2027 prospects in Hawaii and ranked No. 312 nationally. Kong has really taken off on the mound over the past year but will also have the ability to chip in with his offensive and catching abilities.
'27 OF Kaikea Patoc-Young (Uncommitted) should also provide some impact on the offensive side of the ball as the 14th-ranked 2027 in the State will get time manning the outfield throughout the season. Left-on-left with more strength to come and possesses arm strength in the outfield. '27 SS/OF Coen Sardinha (Uncommitted) is the final newcomer we'll highlight and is yet another one of the top 2027 positional prospects in the State. Sardinha was in attendance last month at the Hawaii Preseason Invitational where he put together a strong performance with a 91.2mph exit velocity, was up to 86mph across the infield and was up to 89mph in the outfield.
Kamehameha Kapālama enters 2025 with plenty of momentum following a strong 2024 campaign and an impressive roster returning as they have their eyes on the 2025 Division I State Championship. The team comes with a healthy mix of elite upperclass prospects, both arms and positional prospects, as well as an equally strong group of underclassmen beginning to get their fet weet as they prepare to be leaders in the Warriors program in the future seasons.
The Warriors will generate a ton of buzz throughout the 2025 season and stay tuned to our social channels throughout the spring for all the coverage!
