Hawaii 2025 Class: Top Uncommitted
November 22, 2024
Nicholas Nashiwa C / 2B / Maui, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 1
The Maui high school product had scouts and college coaches questioning if they were early with their stopwatch as Nashiwa posted consistent pop-times under 1.90 at West Coast Games and Hawaii Fall Showcase. Able to play any position on the field, Nashiwa is a super utility guy who DI's need on their roster with the new roster limits. Nashiwa is Prep Baseball Hawaii's #10 overall 2025 and our 2025 #1 uncommitted Hawaiian.

Jordan Lowery RHP / Maryknoll, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 5
Impressive at Hawaii Fall Showcase and dominated at West coast Games with FB up to 89 and wipeout SL up to 2800+ spin. Nobody could touch him, induced some bad chases/hacks and left hitters shaking their heads while making a left turn back to the bench. Powerfully built with strong, durable lower half is the ideal build for a future power pitcher. Pitchability has improved and FB velocity has increased steadily over the last 18 months. He has been up to 91 and we could see 92-93 this spring. The Maryknoll ace has offers and could be off-the-board to a DI very soon.

Kai Hirayama LHP / OF / Mililani, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 15 / POS: 3
Hirayama is arguably made the most improvement since the spring amongst all 2025's. Velocity is up to 87, CB and CHG plus swing-n-miss weapons and was the most impressive arm on Team Hawaii at West Coast Games with a dominating performance. CB and CHG both flash above-average now and project to future plus. Strike-throwing, K-out pitcher who can start or come in out-of-the-pen as a lefty specialist as LHH's just don't pick him up. One of the youngest in his class, Hirayama just turned 17 and has plus body projection, suggesting plus-plus upside. Hirayama jumps up the list to Prep Baseball Hawaii's #15 ranked 2025 and one of the top Hawaii uncommitted players who could get scooped up by a DI any day now.

Treyden Chong Kee 2B / SS / 'Iolani, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 16 / POS: 1
Chong Kee is a plus athlete who consistently posts high scores in testings, often leading the event in 60, jump mat, EV and sometimes Max Distance. Quick-twitch with a quick bat, plus bat speed and plus EV, and can hit 'um as far as the big boys. Speed may be his best tool, 6.53 best time, plays on bases as a major SB threat. Bat-first guy who makes the routine plays at 2B but would love to see him in CF to fully utilize his plus-plus wheels, plus defenders in CF are a huge value and would create more value to his overall game. Possesses athleticsm, tools, metrics and upside DI recruiting coordinators find highly desirable.

Tanner Fujino SS / 2B / Maryknoll, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 5
One of the better "baseball players" in Hawaii with strong tools across boards. Won't lead in metrics in your workout/testing day but consistently scores in the top 5-10 in just about every category. Strong present tools project to improve to DI above-average tools and plus IQ/instincts/feel plays up tools and game even more. One of the top uncommitted players in Hawaii who truly has a shot to play DI shortstop with his sure hands and strong arm. Bat has more pop than most would guess but knows his game, line-drive oriented and works entire field. Plenty of value on both sides of ball who DI's are watching closely as a possible late recruit.

Ka'ili Kane 1B / 3B / Saint Louis School, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 1
No batter took better AB's or was a tougher out at Hawaii Fall Showcase than the Saint Louis power hitter. Started his event with a loud BP with easy barrels then took that impressive BP into games. Kane jumped on a first pitch FB belt-high for an ambush HR to deep left field vs Prep Baseball Hawaii's 2024 POY then battled in his next AB's, fouling off tough pitches and putting the ball in play. Kane is an under-the-radar guy who's not just a good hitter but one of the best pure hitters in Hawaii and one of the top Prep Baseball Hawaii's uncommitted 2025's. Kane debut's on Prep Baseball Hawaii's rankings at #19.

Cade Watson RHP / OF / Punahou School, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 21 / POS: 6
Has truly upped his game over the 2024 summer/fall circuits. FB up to 88 and playing up with better command but it's the command of his SL and CHG that has enabled Watson to look like a RHP who should already be committed to a DI. Best CHG to date at Hawaii Fall Showcase, improved deception, fade/HM and touch to now it's arguably his best secondary. Short/true SL is a pitch he's always had as his go-to but now up a grade due to improved command and is equally effective vs RH/LHH's. DI's know who he is and could be a late commit soon.

Chase Sutherland C / 3B / Saint Louis, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 22 / POS: 2
6-01/182, DI body with DI tools. Put on a loud show in wood BP at Hawaii Fall Showcase, 96 EV and hammered balls high and deep over-the-fence on a damp night at CORP. Kurt Suzuki told Sutherland at West Coast Games to be more aggressive early and that new approach should enable Sutherland to jump on good pitches early and improve his game offensively. Quality defender who works behind plate, 1.88 pop-time is his best, consistently in the 1.90-1.95 range and wants to improve defensively. Sutherland posseses all the ingredients for a DI catcher.

Tyler Okihiro LHP / Mid Pacific Institute, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 5
6 foot LHP who made a name for himself, as far as Prep Baseball Hawaii is concerned, with a dominant performance at West Coast Games. Plus running FB's up to 87 from L3/4 slot and plus angle/width, good shape to CB with ability to locate and miss down, CHG was his best secondary and out-pitch as bottom fell out of it for swing-over K's. Strike-throwing, nothing straight, pitch-to-contact, tough-to-barrel crafty LHP's are pitchers you can trust as a DI pitching coach knowing what you'll likely get each time out. Plenty of room for added strength, plenty of upside and one who ends up at a DI in the end.

Dexter Kauahi II RHP / Kailua, HI / 2025Rankings StateRank: 25 / POS: 7
Dealt at West Coast Games. Up to 87 and FB played-up with command, had breaking ball and CHG working from get-go, located everything. First-pitch strikes, bad hacks/chases, K after K both swinging and looking. Excellent tempo, plus pitchability and confidence, efficient to say the least. Even DJ admitted that may have been his best performance. Young for his class, just turned 17 with plenty of room for added strength. One who could make a big jump in 2025 and ends up a DI guy in the end.
