Unsigned Senior Spotlight: LHP/OF Kai Hirayama
March 7, 2025
The winter schedule has come to a close as players are now preparing for the 2025 season which will be getting underway in the coming days, while other players have already got some game reps in with tournament play. The 2025 preseason showcase schedule featured the first-ever Hawaii Preseason Invitational which was an eight-team tournament to open up the year that saw all positional players run through a pro-style workout alongside our tech partners, while we also collected updated TrackMan pitching data on all arms during gameplay.
Our staff had eyes on over 100 players and with the season finally here, there is still a ton of quality uncommitted talent still on the board in Hawaii's senior class. Over the next couple weeks, our staff will begin highlighting some of these names who need to be on the radar of college coaches looking to roundout their 2025 class.
We continue our Top Uncommitted Senior Spotlight Series with '25 LHP/OF Kai Hirayama of Mililani HS who represented Hawaii at the 2024 West Coast Games, participated in the prestigeous 2024 Hawaii Fall Showcase and is the top unsigned left-hander in the State.

Scouting Report
Hirayama is arguably made the most improvement since the spring amongst all 2025's. Velocity is up to 87, CB and CHG plus swing-n-miss weapons and was the most impressive arm on Team Hawaii at West Coast Games with a dominating performance. CB and CHG both flash above-average now and project to future plus. Strike-throwing, K-out pitcher who can start or come in out-of-the-pen as a lefty specialist as LHH's just don't pick him up. One of the youngest in his class, Hirayama just turned 17 and has plus body projection, suggesting plus-plus upside. Hirayama jumps up the list to Prep Baseball Hawaii's #15 ranked 2025 and one of the top Hawaii uncommitted players who could get scooped up by a DI any day now.
