pitchers

Cal Stalzer, SS/RHP, WDM Valley, 2016
5-foot-10, 150-pound 2-way player. 7.44 60 time. Simple up to down delivery with balance and athleticism. Three pitches for strikes. Arm works well with above average extension to plate. Fastball shows late 2-seam action down in zone for strikes at 80-85 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with sharp break. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed with sink for strikes. Competes in bottom of zone with 3 pitches and above average command.

Michael Henter, RHP/1B, Waukee, 2017
6-foot-6, 215-pound 2-way player. 8.35 60 time. Very projectable prospect on mound with present pitchability. Controlled delivery with rhythm. Slight collapse at balance point. Loses some leverage and drive. Inline stride and lands closed to plate. Shoulder tilt on delivery with long clean arm circle. Throws 4 pitches for strikes consistently right now. Fastball was 77-78 at this event with heavy action down in zone. Two weeks previously 82-83 in game action. Curveball has 11/5 shape with late break and tight rotation. Advanced feel for changeup. Comes out of hand very easy to spots. Split is average pitch with wobbly flat action. Overall high follow for 2017. Very few pitchers his age and size show the ability he does to consistently repeat mechanics with ability to pitch. Velocity to come.

Brady Stover, LHP, Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, 2016
6-foot-1, 180-pound left-handed pitcher. Projectable body and arm. Simple controlled delivery on mound. Tends to land open; creating slingy action on pitches. Fastball comes out of hand easy with little effort. Fastball is downhill with life showing late run for strikes. 2/8 shape on breaking ball flat action. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed with sink. Shows ability to throw 3 pitches for strikes. Mechanics and breaking ball need to be cleaned up; but overall has high ceiling. Could be fast riser going to summer.

Tends to wrap curveball early in delivery. 12/6 rotation with late breaking action at times. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed with sink for strikes. Not done growing. Has requisite ability to pitch. Interesting to see how body continues to develop and if velocity will translate.
