catchers

Bryce Hingst, C/1B, Waukee, 2015
5-foot-9, 200-pound catcher/first baseman. 8.1 60 time. Left-handed hitter with strong uphill swing. Keeps barrel in zone and ball jumps off bat with pull approach. 92 mph exit velocity. At first base shows soft hands and good feet. Undersized for receiving throws across. More than adequate at position. Behind the plate shows average hands receiving. Strong hands; needs to clean up receiving mechanics. Ok feet blocking. Head leaks out in front losing body control and holding block. Relatively clean- simple and repeatable catch and throw mechanics. Very consistent throws to second. 71 mph arm strength with 2.00-2.05 pop times and accuracy on bag.

Zack Hamilton, C/RHP, Southeast Polk, 2015
6-foot, 220-pound 2-way player. 7.91 60 time. Simple load with front heel turn trigger into swing. Showed bat speed and had barrel whip through zone. Lift at contact and above average power to pull side of field. 88 mph exit velocity. Mobility was limited behind the plate due to sprained knee. Currently playing football. Has durable and strong body. Ability to receive and keep pitches in zone. Tends to stand straight up effecting glove to hand exchange. Shows accuracy to second base. 73 mph arm strength with pop times in 2.1-2.18 range. On the mound showcases downhill fastball with slight cut at 80-82 mph. Curveball was 67-71 with 12/6 rotation and changeup was 68-70. Slider shows good tilt and late break at 71-74 mph. Intriguing 2-way prospect when healthy and out of football.

Dylan Miller, C, Waukee, 2015
6-foot, 185-pound catcher. 7.21 60 time. Loads with body and hands. Minimal weight shift through contact. Rotational hitter with pull approach. Solid downhill/ line drive bat plane to contact. 82 mph exit velocity. Shows average hands behind the plate. Above average feet and mechanics blocking. Feet and exchange are good on throws. Has hitch in release that effects velocity and pop times. 2.25-2.41 range with 69 mph velocity to second base.

Zack Murphy, C, Burlington, 2015
5-foot-8, 175-pound catcher. 7.9 60 time. Right-handed hitter with line drive swing plane. Good weight transfer through contact.
